Pennies catalog was a staple around my house during the holidays. The edges of the toys for boys section was all tatty torn by the time the holidays were over - between my brother and I, I think we may have kept pennies afloat in the 80s.

My grandmother on my dad's side would get us the absolute worst clothes for Christmas. I mean, one time she gave me some plaid pants. Not them, but not far off:

The blues in these would have been black in that pair. I can still remember that, which gives you an idea of how big a hole that incident burned in my psyche. When I first saw Ralphie in the bunny outfit in 'A Christmas Story', I immediately knew exactly how he felt.
