Ever wanted to roll a tire down a ski jump? Heres what happens! Several tires tested and measured because its in Japan and its all for science, really...

You could tell it was for science because of the white coat and gloves...

My conclusion was-- the heavier the better, at least until something breaks.

But a heavy tire, made very narrow for aerodynamics and with one ribbed tread about 1/4" wide to reduce friction; I believe would have done more damage than Godzirrah.

I think the ramp needs to be built a tad stronger. Then they should run the test again with four tires simultaneously, whilst attached to a vehicle. This would make for a far more entertaining video.

That was awesome! Thanks for finding that. The Super Happy Fun tire destroyed that ramp and still almost won. I agree with 1988RedT2, they need to make the ramp stronger and do it again.

They should have set up big ass bowling pins at the bottom...for science...

I am shocked that there were ...um...scientists standing at the bottom.

I was driving west on the I-84 through Hartford once. The east and westbound sides cross bridges on different levels. There must have been an accident on the east side because a wheel and tire came flying toward my windshield from above at about 60 mph. There were cars on both sides of me and I couldn't swerve. It landed about ten feet in front of my car and bounced back into the sky. I looked in my mirror but I never saw it come back down. It was terrifying and it looked a lot like that video from Japan.

one of my friends once threw a fully inflated tire and steel wheel out of the back door of his Citation at 60 mph... it bounced up at least 100 feet and came down in front of the car before bouncing again and flying off into a corn field.. that was, umm, interesting... it was so interesting, in fact, that i told him that if he ever did that again while i was in the car he was going to be following the wheel/tire out the door about a half a second later..
