poopshovel wrote:If you go to court, the judge is just going to say "Boy!!!, you know you were speeding, we know were speeding. Guilty as charged".That has absolutely never once happened in more than a dozen tickets for me. Sometimes they reduce the fine and drop the points. Sometimes they just drop the points (most of the time.) Most of the time you can show up early, talk to the DA, and never even SEE the judge. The judge wants to get the goddamned money and go the berkeley home. It's a traffic ticket, not a murder case. Never done it on a speeding ticket, but did it on a rolling stop sign ticket: Cop didn't show. Cop said on ticket he got me on camera rolling through stop sign. There's no berkeleying way he could have. DA wants me to come to his office so we can review the in-car together. I say "berkeley that" (not literally) and request a jury trial. Ticket thrown out. No fines. No record. No plea. Just a polite "Get the berkeley outta here" from the judge. NOW, if you PAY the thing, it's on your record, so the next time you get one...or a DUI, reckless driving, etc., they COULD use that as evidence against you in court, and the judge may be a little less lenient with sentencing.
What Poop says is the truth. I know I rehashed this in the school bus ticket thread- but it bears repeating- go to court. Be humble. Get out of ticket. It's that simple. Court is a game for me, to see just how much I can get away with. Standing record is 6 tickets discharged at once. I don't WANT to beat that score, but I will if I have to.

In fact I got stopped for somewhere north of 40 over one morning and the ticket was about the same as yours and 2 points on my L's. Years ago Indiana did not reciprocate with Ohio. And there is a reason why I haven't been back to Indiana for a very, very long time.
Maybe. Maybe not. Out of state tags are easy pickins, and THEE swank force one is probably begging to get pulled on the dragon. Honestly, I don't know why the berkeley people even use that road anymore. "80 BILLION SWITCHBACKS IN 5 MILES! STUPID berkeleyING HARLEY RIDERS BEGGING TO DIE! COPS GALLORE!"
There are a hundred other WAY nicer, better paved, and traffic/cop free roads in north ga. Just go on ebay and buy the stupid t-shirt. Tell everyone you did it, and how lame it was.
When I moved here, on the last trip down, I was stuck in traffic behind an old beater truck with a bumper sticker that said "GO BACK TO OHIO!" I LOL'd all the way home
If I was the sort of person to be petty, I might just appear so I could face my accuser... then just pay up. Later, using the information I could glean on the accuser... I might be a dick too. Nothing illegal or dangerous mind you... just anonymously disturbing to the people who thought they knew him.
berkeleying with people because you can type turn-about is fair play, no?

true about N. Ga.
and there are dozens of GREAT roads in E.TN and WNC .... I live (been here since 1955) about 30 min. from the TotD, and have never been on it
In reply to poopshovel:
For the record, I was not driving Swank Force One. Just a 100% stock appearing Miata. Wasnt running the dragon, just leaving Fontana Village Resort to go home.

Gotcha. Reading comprehension > me...and why you should listen to an attorney rather than me. Though, having been popped a billion times, I'm guessing Stenny Feinberg, attorney at law will agree with my assessment.

Assuming he's at the arraignment. Which he won't be.

Let's you and I play a little game. I'm the attorney for the defense.
When was the last time that the arresting officer's speedometer was calibrated? Has ALL the recommended maintenance been performed on the arresting officer's vehicle, per the manufacturer's manual? Has the arresting officer's speed been clocked with the same supposed radar gun that was used to determine my client's speed? Need a little time to gather this evidence? Don't worry. I'll wait. After all, it is the STATE'S obligation to prove my client's GUILT, not my CLIENT'S obligation to prove his INNOCENCE. I request a jury trial. What say ye, cocksmoker desperately seeking $300 in taxes on a bullE36 M3 charge?
(Closes brief case and turns to judge) BTW, your honor, see you on the links this Sunday? $20 a hole, right? Your honor, your honor!

The OP won't be at the arraignment, Beavis. Try and keep up.
I mean... I can show if it turns out that that is the clear answer.
I'll call a lawyer and see how that goes.

DO_THAT. I'd gladly pay a lawyer $200 to make it go away over $200 in taxes any day. Be a dick (in a nice way.) Tell him you'll expect him to buy you lunch next time you're in town with all that money he made for a 30 second phone call to his golf buddy.
