I will be there for school for the Army. I am not sure exactly how much free time I will have yet but if anyone is close I would be up for a beer or two.

Red Lion Brewery should be having their Octoberfest in Wilkes Barre one of these weekends??

I might be able to swing by the Pocono Brewing Company one evening if you can find your way to Mount Pocono from the base (its about 7 miles South).

Hershey is the second week in October...

The Tobyhanna Depot. Have fun. We have a cabin very near there and I used to drive by it every summer. It was interesting to see the apartments built up across the street from the gate slowly fall in to disrepair. Beautiful area of the country though, especially this time of year.

Some places to go if you have time. Lackawac Nature Sanctuary - Got married there almost exactly 2 years ago. Head towards Ledgedale and you'll see signs. Skytop Lodge - Nice old resort with a cool old main lodge which has a great pub in the basement.

Thanks for all of the info. First day of class is the 4th and I should know what the schedule is going to be. Once I find out if there is time I will see what can be put together.

I am going for the first phase of learning how to be an "Army" IT guy. I have been doing IT work since 95 and I have a feeling I am going to need a beer or two to keep my sanity.

I'll be making a banzai run to Tennessee and back on the 1st & 2nd. I'll be worthless on the 3rd.

I've been to Skytop Lodge, and yes it is a cool place. The pub was very nice. Had a great burger there. And a whole lot of Yuengling.

It's a bit of a hike to Hershey from there, but not unreasonable. If you get a chance to run down to Hershey for the swap meet I really recommend it. My wife & I will be there on Friday the 8th. Walking around acres and acres of really vintage tin is a great cure for the IT blues...

The family and I rented a cabin for a week not far from there. The kids enjoy running up to Scranton and seeing the trains run at Steamtown. They've got a nice facility there. http://www.nps.gov/stea/

It's over an hour from Tobyhanna, but the family loves Knoebel's amusement park. Prolly not open now, except maybe weekends. http://www.knoebels.com/

Aside from the weather it has not been bad here so far and it is very pretty here.

The boulder field is freaking awesome. Check it out. Lake Wallenpaupack (east of Scranton) is pretty nice, too, you can probably still rent boats and stuff. I have a couple friends that live up there, spent plenty of time in the area.

I'll be at Pocono International Raceway just a few miles up the road. The Del Val BMWCCA is doing an HPDE. I failed to sign up in time to instruct but I'm going to hang out with friends in the paddock Saturday somewhere between 11 and 5. Just as well, the E30 of Doom is not running well and I'm almost out of tires.

Come on out and I'll get you a ride around the track with a buddy. I'll have a red 911 with a big whaletail (see garage). Use the email/PM thingy to drop me a note and I'll reply with my cell #.
