AMC produced, but yes, it's recently available on Netflix.
We're halfway through (it's 10 episodes), and yes, it's very good. No huge names in it but some solid actors you'll recognize.
So far, pretty faithful to the book, which I read at Nick D's suggestion a couple years ago.
TIL they made a TV show based off The Terror.
It's great, apparently each season is not connected to the last but this first season at least is fantastic
It's listed as an "anthology series" which generally means that each season (if not episode) has a separate subject, like American Horror Story. I didn't even connect it to the book until we actually started watching it.
We started it because I had generically heard it was good and we rather like Ciaran Hinds. Turns out it also has Jared Harris (Richard Harris's son; the guy who played Anderson Dawes in Expanse) as Crozier. And the guy playing Hickey is nailing it.
In reply to Duke :
I hadn't heard about it til last week thru an article, I'm interested to see what they do with season 2. The Northwest Passage story is very cool but I'm not sure you could have done multiple seasons of it anyway.
Jared Harris is also great in Fringe
Not exactly "T" but I was surprised to learn this and was just reminded.
My electronic ceiling fan controller has 4 speeds. Lets say 0 off to 4 at the highest speed.
If you go from off to speed 1, it actually selects speed 2 for about five seconds just In case speed 1 is too little current to move from a stop.
I thought something was wrong at first, hearing it click on, then five seconds later, hearing a second click.

Everyone should watch it
TIL that Antihero is a pretty solid tv critic. I wound up binging the whole season in about 24 hours. I think I watched 7 episodes in a row last night.
TIL that the idea for the Gong show came from Tommy Hunter. Someone only a few of you will know, and probably the last person I would expect.
TIL. Remember back when NASA shot its DART spacecraft into tiny asteroid Dimorphos at 13,645 miles per hour (6.1 kilometers per second) a couple of years ago and I jokingly said watch Dimorphos loop around the sun a few times and slam into the Earth because that's just how our luck works out? Sounds like it's going to start happening in 10 years. Also, TIL how to copy, save, and upload a GIF.
Yahoo.com: NASA spacecraft collision may have created a meteor shower that will last for 100 years
In reply to Antihero :
IMDB says the later seasons are available on Hulu, but Hulu disagrees with that.
Just finished the series tonight. Well done to the end, but with a few changes from the book that I don't really understand.
TIL that Aaron "A-Train" Smith, drummer for The Temptations, was also the drummer for Romeo Void.
Now that is an eclectic resume.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I started watching it myself and then rewatched it the next day with the wife, do I already got 2 solid watches of it and I still like it a lot.

I never read the book but I'll have to soon.
Really hoping the next season pops up on streaming soon

The tour guide pointed that out, and they were all over the section of the city we toured.
Edit to add photos from my visit:
First 'normal' day after getting back from our weeklong cruise vacation in England/Spain/France. There were a lot of things that I missed while on the cruise and was glad to get back to when we got home. The top of the list being The Bat of course, but TIL that surprisingly the first non-living thing that I missed the most was my Golden Monkey loose-leaf tea- I had figured that with a cruise out of the UK and primarily cruising with Brits that getting a good cup of tea would not be an issue so didn't bring any, but boy was I wrong.
Next time, I pack a bag of my tea and a tea ball to make decent tea while we're on the ship.
TIL that the pitch trim on a Mooney actually rotates the entire tail section, not just the elevators or even the horizontal stab.
The servo at the base of the vertical stab in the diagram pivots the whole empennage along that line around the fuselage, just forward of the leading edge of the horisontal stab.
Yesterday really. That SWMBO still says "Berk" when she bumps her head. That's the only time she ever says it.
