My father turns 87 today. Who has the oldest dad on the forum?
Sorry, I didn't mean to put a damper on your post. Happy birthday to your Dad! Hope you get to enjoy it with him!
And I didn't intend to create any unhappy memories for those who don't still have a parent. I just feel pretty lucky to still have my parents at my age. Mom is going curling this afternoon.
My dad just turned 80. He has already beat all his male siblings and his father and all his uncles in longevity. He's doing pretty well, my mom looks after him pretty good. I do feel it is a blessing to still have him around, especially since he and mom were quite old when I was born. It's allowed me to get old enough to see traits in him that I do (and don't) want to emulate lol.
Dad is 91, everybody says he could pass for 80 tho. Just bought a new Buick Verano last Monday. I watch his driving like a hawk and he's good. Being old school, he did complain about too many gizmos and buttons (I'll tailor it this weekend). His first car w/ heated seats, shoulda done that years ago he says.
My Dad just turned 92, used to run marathons. Back in the day he drove a LHD 1963 Country Squire Wagon in downtown Tokyo. Because of physical challenges, they took his license away last month. Tough to see happen.
Mine is about to turn 84. He called me two days ago to tell me that he went to look at a new Porsche.
I was just trying to do the math on my Dad- born 1913, died 1969 at 56, so 69+56 is...2025 he will have been dead longer than he was alive.
Probably not interesting to anybody but me...
