A toddler playing with Dad's smart phone accidentally won the bid on ebay for a caged, half built Sprite for $225. Anyone else see that?

They've decided to keep the car and restore it, hopefully through crowdsourced funding (?)
C'mon, dad, YOU bought that damn car and were too chicken-E36 M3 to tell mom! Don't blame the kid! Or the news report is all a scam by the dad to lure people into sending him $1 to help restore it.
I'm calling bullE36 M3 on this one.

$225 and it has fiberglass front clip? I'd imagine the fiberglass alone is worth that.
She probably liked the happy smiley face on it
Yeah, and the cage work looks decent at first glance. $225 is good money, no toddler's that lucky when buying a car. They don't even check for frame rust.
They're perfect for checking for rust. Much easier for them to crawl under than than you! Just give jr. a camera and have him snap away!
Sprite with 2 motors and a cage for way under challenge money? Good start kiddo!

That's exactly what I thought. I would have gladly paid that for the nose alone.

Well, if it's a scam then it's freakin brilliant and we should all take notes.
No kids so I'll have to blame my next unexplained car purchase on the cats...
Hey, at least she's got taste in cars.
I too think that's how Dad slunk the whole thing past the Mrs.

Fixed.
Hey, if our butts can dial numbers, I see no reason why they can't pull up Ebay and purchase stuff we have looked at.
For what it's worth, I think the dad is the buyer. And I thing the mom knows it, deep down inside.
Boy, I hope one of my kids doesn't accidentally buy a Flyin' Miata Turbo kit, that would be just . . . terrible.
In the unlikely event this occurred as advertised, kid made a pretty smart buy.
LMAO! SWMBO emailed this story to me this morning and said I couldn't use it as an excuse. She didn't buy the guy's story, either.
I think that dad bought it and made up the story. He is probably E36 M3tin' bricks that it has gotten so much attention.

Ever had a kid? It's remarkable the things they can do. Every one of them seems able to dial 911 within seconds of first handling a phone.
I'm not going to say it absolutely did happen, but I'm darn sure willing to accept it could happen.
Wait, did that guy just say Porsh?
If my kid could land deals like that I'd hand them my phone more often!

This is what I am believing.
No doubt!
That toddler did better than I did on my brit car purchase!
That fiberglass bugeye bonnet is around $500 new give or take some.
I bet they could resell that lot in the right circles and triple their money.

I went out of my way to pay actual money for a roll back wrecker full of '62 MkII Sprite + boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes of parts.

now this really smells, wonder what fox12 news would think of this...
I figured this would be some controversy about a clerk allowing a toddler to purchase a soda on their own.
