That self watering thing is amazing.
Today marks 2 weeks since I sowed my seeds for the garden. I need to thin them out, but I've never done that before.
From front to back
Lipstick pepper
Chocolate 7 pot pepper
Black Hungarian Pepper
King of the North pepper
Amarillo Carrots
Then the back row and the whole strip on the right is Brads Atomic Grape tomatoes.
In the jiffy pellets, the left row is Classic Beeftsteak tomatoes that look nutrient burned already and Black Cherry tomotoes on the right. I tried sOme seeds from my last order in 2011 in the rest of the jiffy pots and none of them sprouted.
Not going to grow any vegetables, but the way my house sits, I have roughly 100 linear feet of flower bed on the front of the house that needs to be dealt with and planted.
I'm discovering that plants are freakin' expensive!
Didn't want to start a new thread, so I dredged up this one!
What's a good mulch for weed control? My garden is a mess. The weeds are vigorous and crazy plentiful. They will easily choke out anything I plant, and pulling them is a non-starter.
We've used straw before, but wiregrass seems to grow right through 6 or 8 inches of it with ease.
I'm thinking plywood, with holes for desirable plants? Only half joking.

It's not a bad joke. Cardboard works really well, and it decomposes. Seems to be better, in that respect, than normal fabric stuff.

Damn! Cardboard. You're a genius!
That, or I'm a friggin' idiot.
