If overweight lose the pounds, it matters. Minor surgery ain't bad but don't let it go till you need a replacement. Your profile says 34 y/o, yea that's way too young.
Ortho said I had a partially torn meniscus in my right knee. Said he may or may not be able to improve it with a scope, didn't recommend it at this time. He said if they hurt too bad he can shoot 'em up and that should be good for around six months or so. Just toughing it out for now although I know they are not going to magically repair themselves.
Last time I stepped on a scale I was 207 @ 6', not ideal but not grossly overweight either. I would say I'm medium to large framed and would only feel really comfortable dropping to around 190 or so. I was 195 forever but I got laid up after a bad spider bite and haven't really been able to drop back down.
While I have moved into a less physically demanding role my work is still very physical. A lot of climbing up and down, running back and fourth and carrying very heavy E36 M3 on loose and uneven surfaces so it's not from week leg muscles or lack of activity. 15+ years of doing concrete work and basically just beating the living E36 M3 out of them day after day is what did me in.
