Seems to be a trend.  At least for me.  About a week ago I picked up a really nice pair of Milwaukee wire strippers in the entrance to a parking lot.  One of these.

Comfort Grip 6 in 1 pliers.  Nice.

Last night I saw a claw hammer.  No place to pull over to pick it up or at least get it out of the road.  And I have enough claw hammers anyway.

And tonight a wrecking bar/crowbar in the middle of the lane near the end of an on ramp.

I was doing close to 70 and I just was not stopping for it.

Cool subject. I call them "road tools." I started a thread on this a few years ago, looking forward to seeing the replies.

I got a motorized hedge trimmer that way. Fell off a landscapers trailer in front of me and landed perfectly and just slit to the side of the road. I stopped and picked it up and tried to chase after the landscaping truck. No dice he was booting it and traffic was not quoperating. I was not able to catch him.

Ice chests. I've picked up several, including a 200 quart marine cooler that was about $500 new.

Several years back, Dad saw a case in the road.  Recognized what it was and banged a Uey to get to it.  Some dudes in a truck got to it first.  He watched them pick up the case and pull out a Glock.

Dad was going to grab it with a handkerchief and call the cops to check up on it, but they thought it was a good idea to pick it up with their bare hands.
