I think I would make a nice addition to History, Some of the other show like pawn stars are really good

I agree here, but I also am disappointed with History Channel. I used to love it for different reasons. I loved the actual, um, uh, history that they had on there. I never paid attention in history class, and anytime the teacher tried to stump me they couldn't (well, PBS had a lot to do with that as well).
Now History Channel is definitely a cool channel--one of the best on TV today--but its not History.

Really Fixed.

I don't know. I think Tim Allen would ruin it for me. I don't think he's as much a car guy as he is a small block cheby guy. I see him doing is tired "oohhgg-oohhgg" on everything with a bow-tie on the front, no matter what. Adam Carrola, yes, Jay Leno, yes, Tim Allen, past his prime.
my first vote would be for the current europe show to be aired here. Vote 2 would be a US cast: Adam, Jay , and Tim.

+1, I'd prefer Chris Titus over Tim Allen.
well, what makes the UK version work is how unique the characters are. You have the one car guy - Clarkson, then two that didnt have a clue about cars Hamster - a TV soap star and Capt. Slow - a pianist. So i would say, find one car guy, and two that dont have a clue, then you might have a chance...

Have you ever heard of Saleen/Allen Speedlabs? http://wikicars.org/en/Saleen
look into the Saleen RRR (won scca championships and competed at lemans)
not saying that his personality might not mesh well, but you might confuse the television personality with what hes actually done.
wikipedia said: Simultaneous with his time acting in Home Improvement, Tim Allen formed a race team with Steve Saleen and race driver Bob Bondurant, called the Saleen/Allen "RRR" Speedlab. The team raced Saleen Mustangs in the SCCA World Challenge, with Allen and Saleen as the team's drivers.
it gets interesting around 12:20 link

I'd just as soon they showed the UK version here in its entirety and at the same time it airs over there, not delayed a year and edited down, but that won't happen.

That's not entirely true, Hammond has been a car and motorcycle guy all his life and May restores motorcycles and had an automotive column before he was on TG.
...but I get your point.

Agreed. I don't know why re-syndication of previously aired shows is not cheaper than shooting whole new episodes of a spinoff series. Heck, I think that many people here would donate a hard drive full of old episodes to the history channel.

The funny thing about this is in real life, May is really the most "car guy" of the three, when you hear about the cars he actually owns and drives and owned before being on the show.
But I agree - it's the writing and the interplay between the characters that really makes the UK version work. That and complete disregard for sponsor concerns.
ya, i should edit that, they do have a clue about cars, but its their characters that make the show work.
That's where everyone is wrong. The cars there aren't represented by sponsors. There is no sponsor spots like in the US. They are REVIEWING vehicles. If the supplier wants a car reviewed then they will let TG have a car to run around the track IF THEY WILL NOT THEN TG WILL BUY A CAR AND MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THE CAR. See Economically priced car, Dodge Challenger (Hell Hammond still owns that car), 3 car econo shootout and more.
TG will not work in the US because US shows are all about sponsor shots and the people making the shows can not figure out how to make one without a Chevrolet or Ford sign on the desk.
The dynamic of TC is definately what makes it great. I don't think Carrola fits the profile. Not very ambitious (by his own admission.) Maybe an Allen, Titus, Craig Ferguson-type combination. One gear head maniac, Allen, one young gear head, Titus, one guy who knows a little about cars but not a maniac Ferguson.
Might work.
In my opinion, I don't think any of the other Top Gear's have been successful. TG Australia is a joke, I never even tried to watch TG Russia, why is it going to work in the US with US lawyers and being commercial driven?
I personally think, if it has a chance of succeeding, it will have to be on a pay-channel like HBO were it won't have to worry about upsetting corporate sponsors.
