I watched the "new" Top Gear on BBC America tonight and a band that I enjoy had a couple of songs in the show. Battles is the name of the band. Here's a vid.
I've heard some of their music on commercials and in the game Little Big Planet, but most people never heard of them.
I like them when the radio becomes too predictable.
The Top Gear editors have a long legacy of picking cool music for the shows. After each TG episode airs, there are threads on FinalGear trying to identify the songs.

The once had a My Bloody Valentine tune on there (cant' remember which one) and I nearly fainted.
Their music people do a great job, for sure.

I remember they once played a Radio 4 song, too.
And of course Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades' during the Exige vs. Apache helicopter bit was brilliant.
Battles? Ooo. Didn't think I'd ever hear anyone talk about that band.

Their drummer was/is in Helmet, too.

Yeah I like Battles a lot. Score one for my teenage daughter.
My room mates are continually confused that I am able to pick out the odd hybrid or presets track, they always do a great job of following my music collection.

Little Feet for the theme song doesn't hurt either.

The 'economy race' episode was on TV last night, (diesel jag, polo, subaru to Blackpool on one tank.) Listen out for Joy Division .

That's the Allman Brothers.

...and, at least last I remember, one of the guitar players was from Don Caballero, which makes sense. If you dig Battles and Don Cab, check out Tortoise too. A little less frantic, and a little less odd time signature/weird phrasing for odd time signature/weird phrasing's sake.
