It's not common but it happens. A small one touched down near Keene a couple of weeks ago and there was one 5 ish years ago that started in Northwood and made it up through Alton into Wolfeboro.   I wasn't on the island at the time but a year or so before that there was a waterspout within a mile my place.

Looking at the current radar it looks like most storm activity is 50 or so miles north of the lakes region and moving northeast.

Edit: NWS just tornado warned a storm heading into Franconia and heading towards Bretton Woods and Jefferson
