Its small (10" shorter than a Tahoe)
Its powerful (5.7 400HP V8)
Its body-on-frame construction (and what a beefy frame it is!)
Its got a straight axle in the back and big honkin brakes (Tundra stuff essentially)
Its got 8 seats and will hold 6 adults comfortably (3 rows of seats)
Its rated to tow 3500kg (7700lbs)
Its got a lower priced, nicer optioned twin (LX570)
Only issue is they are expensive. But they are worth it!

I actually thought about including the LX570, but thought the LX470 was already expensive enough, especially in the current market.
Do they also suffer from corrosion issues on the frames like the the Tundras, and I believe to a certain extent also the LX470s?
Meh. I'm not a fan of the Land Cruiser. You pay a huge premium for a truck that just doesn't perform all that well and isn't nearly as nice inside as it should be for the price you pay. I was also very disappointed in the reliability of the GX470 I had, everything fell apart from 115k-127k miles, including the steering rack. I was constantly under that thing fixing it, it was arguably less reliable than all my so called unreliable German cars...

The Land Cruiser is tremendously uncomfortable towing an enclosed trailer, if that's something that OP cares about. Open trailer, fine, but it is so soft compared to other options and handled my enclosed trailer pretty poorly in 500 miles of highway driving. Sequoia is the superior option among the big Toyota SUV option, even though it is positively ancient by now and I hesitate to recommend it given Expedition/Tahoe and their siblings exist.
Well, looks like I cannot convince my wife that a Touareg or Cayenne is a good idea, she wants another Land Rover.
I'd probably go for the obvious GM options if you could put up with them being a bit big. The Touareg/Cayenne/Q7 seem to be decent options. And anything from Land Rover is probably the cool option but also the most questionable option.
I can also add that a newer Durango tows decently but the history with my mom's 2011 V6 truck has been lots of random things breaking and generally being annoying to own. Plus I'm really not a fan of how it drives in general. It did handle towing a Miata through east Kentucky fairly well though.
I'd never own a Land Rover out of warranty. Even then I don't want to deal with the time and annoyance of having to take it in to get fixed.
LC100 and LC200 frames do not have corrosion issues like the USA built trucks do. Anything will rust, but these rust pretty slowly.
Regarding "not as nice as it should be" on the inside, it doesnt have all the geegaws of a Ford or a GM at a similar price point, but every single little piece has a very nice feel to it and there is definitely a reason they cost what they do. My 2015 LC200 has 136k miles on it and the interior looks and functions like brandy brand new, even the front drivers seat is really nice. I have not seen a truck from The Big 3 that could make that claim.

Not as nice as it should be in comparison to an Audi/BMW/Porsche. Not a Chevy. The Land Cruisers are very expensive, they're competing with the German SUV's, not a Chevy.

Land cruisers are awesome and I'd like one but economically they make no sense when I can buy a Tahoe for 1/4 of the price and rebuild it three times over and still be cheaper than a land cruiser.

$900 oil change, LOL! I've owned several Cayennes, haven't spent anywhere close to that. Land Cruisers cost $85k new and hold their value very well. That puts them in an entirely different league of comparison and it doesn't include a Tahoe/Yukon. Compared to the competition, they're selling what they used to be, not what they are. They're simply not as nice as they should be for the money...

I'd rather have a $85k Yukon Denali than a LC at the same price and year. Not to mention all the big new SUV and trucks are holding their value right now. I have nothing against the LC, I actually like them. I just think Toyota knows they can sell them at any price without doing much changing and upgrading to them.
