He's talking about this squirrel, who was lucky to get away with only a docked tail after nearly being squashed by a Lambo doing over a buck-ten on a racetrack:

Wow, craziest I've seen was a rabbit that got whacked at a NASA event at Infineon. Knocked him to just to the outside of the race line about halfway through the S'es.
Apparently our race was only a minor bother to the vultures who settled down on the track to eat while we zoomed by them. It was a spot everyone does single file, so they were fine.

Yup, I was. Thanks.

Saw a 2nd tier NASCAR car (called "Grand Nationals" and then "Busch Cup" back in the day, don't know what they're called now) hit a deer at Road Atlanta once. Spun it off the road like a street car glancing off a rabbit.
As long as the animal isn't big enough to do my bodywork any damage, I'm cool with it. Radiators can be cleaned, oil coolers can be replaced. All I hope is that the Corner Workers raise the "surface" flag if the mess is big enough..I'd hate so see someone else go off just because I created a slippy spot on the line somewhere.

I've been lucky enough to avoid deer at Summit Point.
This guy wasn't...

My daughter's campus is completely overrun with lethargic overfed squirrels.
She actually hit one accidentally riding A BICYCLE!
Had a customer car in the shop many years ago that needed the gearbox pulled for some reason. The job was messy and disgusting. The owner was reminded to tell us he ran over a deer when he came to pick it up...
on a related note: years ago I was doing a job at the Philiadelpha Seaport Museum in Penns Landing on the Deleware river.. they brought the USS Winston Churchill up river for tours.
After mooring her along the seawall, security came out and searched all around the area.. including bomb sniffing dogs. One of the dogs went nuts for a co-workers car.
Seems he had hit possom a couple of nights before and the car still reeked of blood and guts underneath (to a dog)

Not uncommon at Summit. That was at one of the spots (Chute - Turn 4) where it happens. The other is coming up the hill between Turn 9 and the Pit-In.
I have also seen groundhogs everywhere and a flock of wild turkeys on the main straight. The EMRA night enduro had a cow show up on the track a few years ago.

had no idea we had ever named any ships for foreign dignitaries ... the pics of it seem to show a fairly modern DDG
