My wife just finished building our first Tricycle motor!
(Alexander Ryan)

Whats the break in period like before these things can start propelling lawnmowers?

....Did you name it Carl?

:D

Looks like this motor is well built. Might be a bit hard to start at first though :P

Break in is 10 years, other wise damage to the lower propulsion units is possible.

Break in for trike propulsion is much shorter.

Congratulations!!!

Life will never be the same.

The break in period varies a bit, is generally around 6-7 years if using a self propelled mower. Warning: the emission control system will be somewhat unpredictable at first.

Congratulations!

Thanks!

Speaking of unpredictable emissions control: Last night I opened the bonnet to have a look at the cooling system, but the water pump still had some back-pressure... danged thing spurted coolant all over the place!

Good times

If you see dark brown spots under the chassis, the good news is, it's not leaking oil.

The bad news is, it's not oil.....

Congrats. That first picture above is awesome!

The brown spots aren't offensive at first. But at some point they will become green and require that you wear protective gear.

I don't think you ever really finish the "building" process...

Congrats dude! Around 2 years, you may have to upgrade to a bike frame to handle the extra torques.

I warn you, their mileage is going to be horrible until the break in is past, if that.

Yup. Except unlike your other projects, this one will keep costing money in an ever increasing amount for the next couple of decades or so...
