I like radishes on a salad and making pickled eggs with fresh beets. Pot is also a nice crop for personal enjoyment.

I also have a black thumb so I just go buy them from the farmer's market. Yes. All of them.

All Tomato Plants for me - I can eat 3-4 a day. The rest can be bought at local stands.

I'm not sure I get the new garden set up in time (there's an old vegetable bed in the garden but that needs work) but we'll put some Tomatoes, hot peppers and maybe some cucumbers out. Mind you, the last time the wild bunnies took care of the very hot peppers and the cucumbers.

I've had pretty good luck with potatoes and carrots. Might try some beets this year. Always grow cukes and tomatoes, and a few peppers. I don't think I'll bother with corn this year.

Basil and oregano and some other stuff like that? Probably smart to pot those.

I just got my seed order in. Four types of tomato, cukes, carrots, green onions, three types of peppers, zukes and beans. Going to pick up my onion sets in a few weeks.

I have a herb section with a couple of different oreganos, some mints for Mojitos, leeks, lemon balm for tea (and cause they get pretty flowers), bee balm for salad, and a couple of different basils.

Mint, oregano, lemon balm and the leeks all are perennials. If you just let the last of the basil sit there all winter then shake it around after you pull it up you'll have all the free basil you want.

I have several different tomatoes because they ripen at different times and they have different flavors & textures so can be used different ways.

I usually do broccoli & brussel sprouts cause they are so easy to do.

Eggplant is another one that we have several different types. We like the lighter, smaller, longer ones like the while Japanese version. They are very productive and the flavor is light and lends itself to a lot of different recipes than the big purple ones do.

Of course multiple peppers. Jalapeno X 4, several Bell peppers, anaheim pepper or poblano peppers for Chili Rellano and we always some sort of varietal pepper that catches our eye.

We never do corn or peas because they take up too much room for so little return and because the deer like them. We don't want the deer to notice the garden.

We also plant a lot of marigolds around the edges. The marigolds, lemon balm & bee balm help deter the deer. They apparently do not like the smell.

Vine type plants (watermelon, cukes, etc) always seem to be much better bought.

I have tried for years to get the little spring green onions, but I can no longer buy them around me. We used to plant hundreds of them and now we can't even buy them, except at the grocery store.
