So, wedding is saturday, and I managed to convince my dad to send his 66 mustang convertible down to use as the "getaway car"
It was delivered on tuesday to the hotel, but the battery was dead, I guess they jumped it and ran it a bit but I took a tender over there to make sure we don't have any issues on the big day. It was way low on fuel so I took it and filled it up. On the way back to park and cover it, the brake pedal goes to the floor. Pedal is soft all the way to the floor except for the last inch or so is enough to hold against the trans at idle. Limp it back to the garage and get it parked so I can start poking around. Notice several black puddles on the ground approximately where I had used the brakes. Master cylinder isn't leaking, so I start poking around underneath with a light to find the passenger rear is the culprit.
Now I get to find a shop tomorrow morning close enough to limp into that can get it fixed ASAP. Yay.
Better it happened now, than driving away from the ceremony with your new bride. Most women generally don't like to get their wedding dress dirty fixing a car on the side of the road.
But if she does, you know you chose the right one!
Good luck. You might want to line up a back up vehicle now, just to be safe.
These little trials will add some interesting flavor to the wedding.
you'll get it to work. And she will appreciate it.
(let alone your dad- since you are fixing his car...

I can feel you pain. I used all of our old cars to drive the wedding party away from the church. I got them all running except our old 53 jaguar. I finally got it going the day before the wedding and all worked great. You will get it right and have a great memory. good luck and best wishes.
Chris
Dad sent a car with no gas, a dead battery and spongy brake pedal for you to use after getting married?!
Gee, thanks Dad.
At my dad's wedding his best man tried to drive up in an AMC Javelin, on that day it happened to drop the driveshaft pole-vault style. It didn't pole vault but that did break the rear axle free of the chassis.
Meh. Worst case, rob the wedding gift cash stash and rent something way cooler than a rustang. Personally I'd rather drive a Nissan Versa.
Well, the car has been for sale at a classic car dealer the last year or so. Thing costs more sitting than driving every day.
I limped it to a place this morning about a 1/2 mile away after running all over picking up parts. I'll try to post a pic after noon when it's done

Heresy! A '66 Mustang was my mom's car while I was growing up. We sold it when we moved out of the country - denying me the chance to drive it by only 2 years. So it is the single coolest car on the planet.

This was her gift to you. By not letting you drive it you will never know how truely miserable it was.
I am kinda not joking. These things left the factory with 6 turn lock to lock steering boxes, positive camber and negative caster.
