To watch this.
My first thought was " I know that exists stateside" and my second one was "holy crap, they are flat out CLOBBERING each other with those swords" .
Wow. I'm going to say I think they are limited by the rules to chopping motions otherwise there'd be some dead dudes.
OK, that E36 M3's serious. Nothing like that, but at the Michigan Renaissance festival the Jousting looks pretty serious. The sword play afterwards is pretty lame, but they do go for it with the Jousting. Seen plenty of lances shatter on impact and people been seriously thrown from horses and need assistance getting up afterwards, but nothing like those nutters.

Remember Full Metal Jousting on the History Channel?

Holy E36 M3! At about 55 seconds you can totally see the dudes helmet getting seriously dented by that head strike. And the guy with the two-handed axe at the end, holy berk!
Yeah, at about the 55 second mark I was thinking "huh, did I just see that? He rung that dudes bell!" Then at about 1:30 it gets CRAZY!!
I think the scariest moment is at 1:41 when the guy loses his helmet and keeps fighting for a few seconds without realizing it.

Until the ref threw the flag between them.
Now that I can see the video, it definitely looks like sword thrusts are not allowed. Still plenty of chances for serious injury here. Eastern block countries sure are a different culture...
