What's wrong with Nissan? Why can't they sell more 370Zs? Because their ads at the top of the GRM Message board are for the X-Terra and Quest minivan! At least give us the NV (race bikes fit inside nicely) the Titan (tow rig) or the GT-R (excuse me, I need a minute).
Or the affordable, small, RWD sports sedan you offer...oh wait.
The ads at the top of the page for me have been rotating between Koni shocks, Ram Commercial vehicles and Toyota.
The ads you see at the top are chosen based on the profile that google creates about you from your web activity.
Seems that google thinks you are more likely to buy a X-terra or a Quest than you are GT-R.
Oh that silly google, how wrong they are...or are they?
My current ad is a Jeep Patriot (I own a Vue) and Homewood Suites (I was on their site earlier this week.)
Wait, Google is tracking me somehow?
I don't have any ads at the top of the page.
But I run the Adblocker and Do Not Track apps on Firefox so I don't have to wait for those things to load. I'm special!

Same setup here except for I am using Chrome.

same here ... but I come to GRM directly to the forums (not the home page)... so no adds at the top
I thought the adds came from a profile created by the NSA?
I'm seeing an ad for Square D electrical equipment.
Oh no! When I buy an Xbox One and they see me all the time, they are going to try to sell me Budweiser and KY Jelly!
NoScript is fun to play with as well. Just saying.

I run Adblock Plus, BUT, I don't run it on grassrootsmotorsports.com. They can be kind of obnoxious, and clearly with Adblock I'm not willing to do that for any and all sites, but for GRM I'll let the ads load.
I think it was this thread where I made that decision. When the artist formerly known as 92CelicaHalfTrac asked whether we ought to allow ads on GRM, David S. Wallens pointed out that it does cost a tidy chunk to run the site, and ad views offset some of that.

duh...NSA is spelled G O O G L E, everyone knows that
A minute ago mine was showing an ad for a free PGA-approved golf clinic or something. Excluding mini-golf, I have never played golf in my life and don't want to. Algorithim THAT. It's now an ad from a Mazda dealer about 40 miles (or maybe half a dozen Mazda dealers) away. I guess that's a better match.
AT&T is a really annoying ad right now for me- it keeps reloading, so that the back function is no longer useful. Drives me crazy.
I pay no attention to ads. This thread made me look. I got EA Sports Madden 25 for Xbox360. We recently got a free xbox from the neighbors. Not about to increase my investment. They gave us free games, too!
Then some silly ad "I'm against climate change and I vote." Missed again, google! I'm in favor of climate change. I do vote, however, so they got that part right!
Last one was Gazelle and "what's your iphone worth?" Ha! I have a 10-year old flip-phone on a prepaid plan! It seems der googles is out to berkeleying lunch. LOL.
Lets see, I had one for a local Toyota dealer. I was looking at Corollas for a coworker, and FR-Ss for myself a few weeks ago, so that makes sense. Now its for CRC, not exactly surprising
My issue is that Google displays ads based on my browsing. But when I buy something, I still see ads for it forever. How do I tell big brother that I bought the damn thing and to display pretty girls or something?

My ad is for Madden 25 on XBox. I don't like football, and I don't own an XBox. I've not browsed for either.
Good job, Google.

(Here's my typical "Ads? what ads? I use FF and AdBlocker" comment)
All i see are WRX and Forester ads every time I come to the site even if I'm not logged in from a pc i never use.
No-script is fun once you get it worked out properly. Took me like 3 months to optimize it to the sites i frequent.
I have one from a local car dealer... funny, I have been looking at boat stuff recently, not cars
