After hearing about the applications of truck chassis wax in office pranks, I decided to look this stuff up. I found a few examples:

Anyone tried anything like this? Sounds like a good idea, especially for cars driven in the winter.

Oh more info:

In the old days, we used to just spray old, used oil on the underside. Worked then-still does.

I bet that's a lot messier though...especially when you want to remove it...

I've got a Spitfire I bought from New Hampshire that was well covered with Waxoyl. Everywhere the Wayoyl is, there is no rust. Since the car was well coated, it's rust free. It's been on there for almost 30 years now, so it's dried out some. I absolutely love the stuff.

Oh here's a recipe to mix your own Waxoyl. Apparently it goes on best when hot.

Oh and this place actually sells the stuff, it's not easy to find:

I just might have to give this Waxoyl stuff a shot. The sand and salt they use here in New England is murder on cars. There isn't a single suspension component on my Subaru that doesn't have rust, and I don't want my Mazda to end up that way.

I'm sorry, I was afraid to open this one. The first thing I thought of was Mel Gibson in "What Women Want" removing hair from his body.....

My brother shoots used motor oil on his dump truck with a Wagner Painter and then drives down a dusty road.
