A couple minutes past 9 tonight I noticed a car sitting in my driveway with the lights on and running. I watched it for a minute or 2 and then went outside and asked if I could help them from my door, phone in hand.
They claimed to be from UPS making a delivery for what was my old address before the city changed it over a year ago.
Can anyone confirm ups is making deliveries this late in non ups vehicles?
Called ups, but spoke with some one in india , Malaysia..... They just kept saying if it was a ups truck, it was ups. They did not get the not a ups truck no matter how many times I stated it.
Let the local pd know also.
Thats 2 incidents in three days. It snowed ther other day, stayed at the gf's house, returning home to find tire tracks in my driveway, and lawn as they did not know where the driveway went with the snow.

Delivery workers have been getting shafted for a while now. I have seen them in everything from Uhaul trucks to personal vehicles. Gotta make a buck somehow.
The majors are out of capacity. Expect melt down in 1.5 weeks
I was at amazon during the 2013 package ma geddon. Lots of people got told their services were no longer required after that
My last two UPS deliveries w/ in the week were made by a guy in a minivan, no UPS uniform or markings on the vehicle. He did have the UPS device to sign for one package.
Delivered at random times but not the big brown truck usual times I knew from before.
Yeah I have had this happen and got legit packages. No complaints here.
We've had a guy dropping off packages out of a Budget truck. Can't tell if it's UPS, USPS Amazon or FedEx. All of them at one time or another have had to contract out deliveries over the past few months. Big brown truck seems to be at one of another of the neighbor's houses at least once or twice a day. He's got a helper riding with him now.

Your regular drivers will have a (more or less) regular schedule.
Any overload drivers are going to have a completely different schedule that may also change from day to day.
I feel special. I got a visit from the brown truck today, and there were two guys in it!

Pd gave me a call back. They stopped 2 guys, one ups, one FedEx, both in unmarked cars.
They believe it was a legit driver. Feeling better about it.
Yeah have had some odd ones including amazon (not UPS) in personal looking minivans and rental trucks.
I've also noticed that they actually haven't been pulling into my driveway or the neighbors anymore. We're on a semi large trafficked road (40 mph) and to save time / not to turn around or back out, they just stop in the road and make cars stop or go around.
Its Christmas. There are all sorts of extra people delivering, this year even more, I'd imagine. I got a parcel from a guy in a 76 Volvo wagon a couple of years ago.
Our UPS driver has been delivering in a small U-Haul box truck. Her story is UPS has no spare rolling stock and some is held together with good wishes and bailing wire.
Her brown van has been down for several weeks.

Yep. Got a delivery from a nice lady driving a Mazda 3. Pouring rain, and she could not get the scanner to work on the box. She ended up taking a picture of me holding the box. Got a message a little while later saying package delivered directly to recipient.
It's legit. Amazon and ups have delivering in my neighborhood in rentals and personal cars.
UPS dropped off a package in an older white F150 to me yesterday. I suspected that was what was going on. Dude still had on the brown uniform though.
About 1/2 my deliveries are from personal vehicles or UHaul trucks. I see the Post Office trucklet and the Amazon Sprinter Vans, UPS is usually a Sprinter too. I get deliveries at all hours and on Sunday.

The Sunday deliverys throw me off every Sunday.
You come down my 1000' driveway at 9pm in a non-commercial vehicle and be prepared to be met by me and my BIG friend. I love tactical shotguns BTW.
Yikes, a few of you seem really paranoid.
The Amazon delivery trucks are horrible in my area. Stopping in the middle of the roads or parking on the side that still takes up half the road.

Well no deliveries for you then.. During peak most delivery drivers are authorized to work past 10pm and for years the UPS and USPS will use rented cargo vans or person vehicles to deliver...
I'm guessing this is all internet keyboard commando bluster.. but carriers are getting pretty agressive towards this behavior. You run the risk of having your address depriortized and then moved to a pickup only model at a local hub. Have fun driving into town to pickup your package because you harrassed a driver. I've investigated many such situations during my time with Amazon.
UPS delivery in a personal car - no uniform - happened here a few times last Christmas but none so far this year.
