Don't misunderstand me, I'm all for safe cars. Especially since I have kids and a wife that drives with all the crazies out there. I'm even on the road with the crazies and it scares me sometimes so some safety devices I'm all for. And having done aircraft accident investigation, I know how the black boxes can assist. And also assist in other means mentioned.

This line of thought is the same that through the 50's to the late 90's almost got guns completely banned. These things work on incrimentalism, every bit you give they will take and ask for twice as much.

They are not allowed in NC anyway, or I'd try one in my car.

Most insurance companies do not make a profit unless they have a financial department, like life insurance, annuities ect...

The rate of insurance goes up because of your driving or others in your neighborhood. It is all calculated by actuarial. There is a reason why certain communities are higher than others.

Some manufacturers already have the "Black Box" BMW has one so when you get a new M3 and blow the motor under warranty they will see that you abused it and blew the motor and will charge you.

Lesson of the story is stop being like fast and furious on the streets, and take it to the track if you want to do some spirited driving.

EDR is already here, just not mandatory yet.
