So far it's more lively that some TGUK I've seen. I'm hip so far.

Shhhh. Don't spoil it for me, I'm recording it so I can watch the whole thing sans commercials.

I'm not a fan at this point. They get along with each other, and that just hurts the feel of the show.

So, they just had to explain The Stig.

The Stig is Ken Block?

Their "what you'll see in the upcoming 10 weeks" was very revealing.....they're cherry picking, taking some of the better bits from a variety of seasons. They're also modifying them. The helicopter bit was not a direct recreation of the UK one.....running through town was interesting.

I'd say tolerable, but more of a "Tivo and watch eventually" than a "must see"

I'm betting they're working on the theory that most Americans haven't been downloading torrents for three years now

They could have picked a better (worse) reasonably priced car.

Strangely, the Ferrara guy is somewhat amusing. Tanner can drive- but has the personality of a fence post.... I haven't seen enough of Rutledge or whatever his name is to make a judgement. Cool pick on guest star though.

The stig won't be revealed, but that's because it is Tanner. That's the cost effective way to do it.

They're playing parts

Tanner = Hamster's clone
Rutledge = Capt. Slow's clone
Adam = Jezza's clone

pretty camera work on the lambo challenge, but their dialog delivery is pretty wooden

Burn the scripts. Kick over the teleprompters.

Tanner, develope a personality. Your smart, you can drive AMAZINGLY well... but you seem like the kind of guy I want to hire for an engineering position, not hang out with.

Interview was too short. But its cool, just felt rushed.

I'll keep watching. It shows promise and I think with time they might actually develop some sort of chemistry.

The need to substitute Rutledge with JG. Tanner shouldn't be in the cast, because there shouldn't be race drivers in the cast. I dunno, give that role to Marky Mark.

no, they are working on the correct assumption that most Americans have never heard of the original Top Gear.

i see potential in this show, as long as Ruttledge doesn't go into his "NASCAR on Speed" character...

yeah, but they had to do all the exposition for the people that are catching it for the first time and for when they rerun the episode down the line.

one difference that jumped out at me was that Tanner called the steering wheel mounted shifters in the other two cars "paddle shifters" and not "silly flappy paddle shifters", so they aren't doing an outright copy of the Brit version.

Tanner does not have what it takes to run the lead role that they had him in on the first show.

Ferrara - "Thrust mode...berkeley (shift) berkeley (shift) berkeley"

Tanner=dead fish

I try to like that guy but I just can't he has no personality what so ever.

Supercars unleashed = fail

Battle of the supercars = fail

TG U.S. = will fail if they don't do something about it.

The other two, I like Adam, didn't think I would but I like him the best, Rutledge I think will get more comfortable.

You can tell be the driving similarities that the Stig and Foust are the same. Wish they would have gotten another driver.

I too can hear the BBC smacking their forehead.

they need to pick some better names for the corners on the test track- "tear drop" and "cameraman's corner" just don't have the same impact as "hammer head", "Chicago", or "Gambon"..
