I know I just ranted about Southwest and had USAirways as a better option, but you should know that they also suck.

Their website never works right, and crashes all the time. When booking ONE ticket, I make a few selections (better seat? sure. check a bag? sure) So you would think that I would get ONE invoice will all of my choices and charges right? Nope. Each charge is a separate transaction with it's own unique ID. So you have to individually enter each little thing on your expense report, and track down a receipt for each little thing. Which are all tied to your ticket number. Which USAir doesn't send you, only a confirmation number. Obviously, the people who work there have never used their own system!

Hey, with US Air you should just be thankful you get to your destination. My wife used to travel for a living and US Air was the most creatively inept airline in the skies.

Most "established" airlines suck. The start-ups tend to be the ones that leads in services.

Up here Air Canada gets beat up by Westjet and Porter - both have much better service. Porter is a regional only one and they fly out of Toronto Island Airport which complicates transfers.

I've always heard Doesnt Ever Leave The Airport.

Honestly, the big win for the terrorists in 9/11 was brutalizing the airtravel market while jet A costs went sky-high. So to speak. Now, just to try to eek out a profit, there's a charge for everything and flights are fewer and fuller. The only carrier ive flown in the last decade that made me feel like they were actually glad to have me as a customer was Singapore Airlines.

Whatever you do, avoid Spirit if you have more than a purse. My brother used to fly with them because a round trip ticket was $75 from Minneapolis to Chicago, and he would just buy clothes in Chicago becuase it was cheaper than the carryon fee.

He refered to them as the "Walmart of the Skies", and a flight attendent overheard him and said "Excuse me?" Broseph turns around, readying himself to defend his position, when the flight attendent continues: "In our CEO's last letter to the shareholders, he refered to us as the Dollar Store of the skies"

Spend some time flying in the US, and Air Canada feels like Sultan Class.

Delta and United worked pretty well for Janel, she got home on time almost every time. This is 4-6 flights a week for two years. US Air had a screwup percentage of about 75%, the best of which was dropping her off late at night in Fresno when she had a ticket for Monterey and saying "well, close enough". That's a 2.5 hour drive, in case you don't know.

I agree USAirways sucks. We had a horrible experience with them on the way back from our honeymoon.

i flew USAirways two round-trips per month CLT - DTW from Apr 2009 to Mar 2010. Zero screw-ups. One two-hour delay in CLT waiting in line for the only de-icer. that's a delay i won't complain about, as i lived in DC when Air Florida did their one-way from DCA to the 14th Street Bridge.

I vote to combine all airlines into one, and let business travelers decide what aspects of each to keep.

"Oh, your flying for the first time? With 4 kids? To Disney? OK, we have a special plane for you."

My best flights have been with Jamaica Air and Caribbean Airlines. CAL has a spotty record, but I have had no troubles. Jamaica Air used to give you a glass of champagne upon take-off. Kinda nice. CAL used to be known as BWIA, standing for Bound To Wait In Airport. Best service ever from an airline was from LIAT, a regional line in the islands. Had a two hour layover in Barbados, spent the time in a Rum Shop across the street. Lost track of time, until the PILOT came after me. Won't get that service from Delta.

I disagree strongly. Considering I fly a minimum of 20 times a year, I think I have "some" experience in this matter. Air Canada berkeleying rocks. Yes, their employees can suck sometimes, but the overall experience is VASTLY superior (and the exact same price 99% of the time) as WestJet.
