Since these are minivans, I'm assuming they're rental car fleets. So drivers aren't going to know or care about E36 M3. Probably safe to assume that they're having basic mileage service performed.

Minivans probably aren't getting hooned around like compact cars either.

Bumping this to ask, did you buy anything?

There have been a resurgence of decent ads near me, though (I think) the better deals mostly being newer than I was initially looking. In consideration:

2017 Caravan value pkg (base-ish) Estate sale, looks immaculately clean and well looked after, 37k miles $14,750

2018 Caravan crew, loaded. Used car dealer, 36k miles $15,500

2019 Caravan crew, loaded. Used car dealer, 39k miles, $15,750

The last two are in the same city, a few minutes from each other, and identical. I wonder if they were some sort of fleet vehicles? They're also 45 minutes away, the other is a couple hours.

Edited to add, what's the deal with Caravan transmissions? I know they used to be a problem, but I see the odd one for sale now, I'm only looking at 2016 and newer, that have had the trans rebuilt. Are they still a problem?

Yup. Ended up buying on Saturday.

Got an '18 Caravan GT for $16,500. 87k miles.

Nice and clean. Spent most of its life as a Florida rental, so no rust issues. Decided to specifically look for the GT trim because that offered the really nice front seats and other creature comforts for the front, but didn't have the added value/cost of the flip down screens and other infotainment for backseat passengers that we don't care about.

Big plus: I have a friend who is a mechanic in that dealer network, so he was able to pull up their records of what the techs there had inspected, found, and done. And I was able to drive it across the street for him to look it over quickly.

I don't know about transmission issues. Consumer Reports didn't have anything listed, and '18 got pretty good reliability marks. The transmission coolant line is weeping a bit at one of the fittings. It's something I'm going to watch, and is an easy fix if it becomes a problem.

The '17 and '18 Pacifica/Voyager notoriously had transmission issues. That was first-model year teething problems with electronic controls and I think cruise control. They introduced a new transmission for the Chryslers that was *not* put in the Caravans.
