I've been following their channel for a couple years now. The initial configuration with an Audi engine was cool, but now that they offer an LS version it's probably more practical and reliable, at least for US customers.
I don't think it's mentioned in this most recent video but the owner of the company was the guy who formerly built those very accurate Ford GT40 cars that came out of South Africa.
There are definitely cheaper options for a v8 beetle, and couldn't see spending $95k on one, but the chassis and components are impressive.
I still would love to do something like this with air cooled VW or Subaru power:
