We are bumming around this summer for a vacation hitting Cedar Point Amusement Park down to the Lexington Horse Park. Nothing fancy and we also hope to drive two lane roads throughout Ohio.

I did manage to squeeze a morning to take the family down to Bowling Green to tour the Corvette Plant. We are luke warm Corvette fans. The wife is a big GM fan since pop worked for Fisher Body for 30+ years and everything for her is Chevrolet. The 8 year old car nut daughter will like it.

Anybody else kinda bumbling around a state or two this summer?

Being as I live here, yes.

Check out bluegrass indoor karting in louisville, looks like a ton of fun. Natural bridge state park isn't far from lexington and offers some really near views with not too much hiking.

Enjoy the humidity.

I live less than 5 miles from Cedar Point. Let me know if I can help.
For deals, this local drug store sells tickets for $42 vs the standard $48.

If you stay at the park owned hotels then tickets are $29 and you can get in the park an hour earlier.

Personally, I have not been inside the park for about 10 years but it's a great place. Tuesdays and Weds are both known to be slower days with smaller crowds.

Cedar Point has pre-purchase tickets on their site for $39.00 for the next few days when you purchase 4 tickets. I can use them until year end and we have 4 people going.

THANKS for the advice! Pete

Any baseball fans in the family? If so, the Louisville Slugger tour is a cool one. We took a tour of a horse farm (i.e. the previous year one of their horses came in 2nd in the derby), that was pretty cool. Also went to Keenland, really enjoyed that trip. While you are down there, you might want to plan a trip to Mammoth Cave if you folks would be into any of that.

I was in Owensboro KY earlier this summer, Then the next weekend, I drove to Virginia through Louisville and Lexington. I've also been to Indianapolis twice, will be going to UP Michigan, possibly Door County, and also possibly St. Louis by the end of the summer. So yeah, I've bumbled around a few states. (I live on the north end of the Chicago Suburbs, so a similar trip as yours)

We usually go here every year and decided to take a break. Next year our goal is to hit Glacier National Park.

I hate it up there. Well, actually I love the land. I hate the tourists. I go for the UP, personally.

There are no good driving road in northwestern ohio near Cedar Point. All the good roads are down in the South East corner of the state. There is some other cool stuff down that way. Look up Hocking Hills State Park.

If looking for more near Cedar Point, a day trip over to Kelley's Island is good family activity. Once there, rent a golf cart or for the more active, rent bikes. Hike around the two retired quarrys, see the glacial grooves and spend some time at the best sand beach on western Lake Erie.

What are the ages of the 4 people? If they are all of legal drinking age then check out Put-In-Bay which is another island in Lake Erie. It is often refered to as Disneyland for Alchohalics. Really not a family place on the weekends but Kelley's Island is family friendly.

If you find yourself near Evansville send me a message. If you're hungry for pizza there is a fantastic local pizza place with a micro-brewery on site.
