My turn to rant a little. I need a vaporizing ray gun for the front of my van so that I can annihilate the next yoyo who goes up the on ramp at 25 MPH and then pulls into traffic in front of a semi-trailer. The trucker veers to avoid the yoyo and I have to pound on the brakes to avoid getting involved with either of them. A ray gun would allow me some sport and see to it that the trucker has a nicer day !

Back off the yahoo so he can see behind you?

PIT practice.

I've learned not to crowd slowpokes on a ramp because it leaves me no escape route. I was 6-8 car lengths behind him, let up when I saw the semi, and he still pulled into the truckers lane rather abruptly causing a lot of brake smoke from the trailer. I don't think the yahoo even looked before he changed lanes. Unfortunately, I see it all the time around here. Too often the driver is on a cell phone which really ticks me off.

Sounds like drivers around you go to the same School of Merging as drivers around here. Let me tool down the onramp at 35 mph, the traffic going double that will totally slow down for me! And these are the same people tailgating you as you go 25 (you know, the speed limit) through a residential zone and past schools.

The onramps are for matching your speed to that of the rest of traffic. Oh dear, you have to accelerate and turn at the same time, I promise, your tires can handle it. A 60* corner at 50 mph is nothing any modern car can't handle.

I do not advocate for the destruction of lives, but I do wish I had a transporter ray that would just transport people somewhere else. There are many folks who would benefit the world by being someplace safe, like school, or home, or out in the wilderness.

Michigan drivers... they do keep the vody shops in business! Come on people, we are trying to rebuild the economy one collision at a time!

could be worse.. in PA it used to be the rule that you had to STOP at the end of the onramp and check for traffic.. they changed it years (decades) ago.. but people still do it.

And yes.. with how my TI is set up.. even on a cloverleaf, I can be up to (or over) the speedlimit by the time I hit the highway.. It really messes with people's minds for some reason... or they think they can do it too.. that is always fun

Forget bad mergers - all I want is a ray that teleports smoldering cigarette butts from the gutter near the stoplight directly into the underwear of whatever slob just threw it out the car window.

heh... I was in court once (not for me) and saw a judge hand a girl a $500 fine for littering for throwing a butt out the window

For the past 15 years or so I refer to bad merges as Pennsylvania Merges. Not sure if it fair or not, but more than once when passing through PA when I lived in upstate NY and CT going to WV it seemed very prevalent to come down an on ramp as fast as their car could go and then just blindly merge into the traffic without signaling or even looking. It seemed to be a move of desperation and relied on luck and hope more than anything else. I saw so many people do it throughout the state, that in my house we still refer to that particular move as a Pennsylvania merge.

The Alabama merge was a different affair. It mostly consisted of entering the highway at whatever speed the person felt like and then immediately heading straight over to the left lane. No matter what speed the oncoming people were traveling or what lane they were in. Luckily, about half the drivers thought they were at Talledega so they didn't hold me up much.

The Minnesota driver on the other hand likes to come up with new and inventive ways to try to out do everyone else in terms of passive aggressive behavior. People here don't really want to be behind anyone and they definitely don't want anyone impeding their passage, but they sure could care less if they change lanes to the left lane, pulling out right in front of you seemingly oblivious to the 10-15mph speed differential making me hit the brakes to not hit them, and then calmly making me pay for being so close to them by making their pass take at least 5 miles. Everyone wants to be first, but no one wants to go more than 1.5 mph over the speed limit. Craziest thing I ever say. Turns out there are not enough meth labs in this state so the cops have nothing better to do than to write speeding tickets. Maybe that's what funds all the nice parks and multi-use paths.

And I want an EMP blaster to disable the predatory cops that sit in groups of 8-10 while a comrade hides behind a sign on the overpass with a laser gun.

It's not that I've gotten a ticket, but that's just wrong.

As far as the OP goes I wonder why people are in such a hurry to get on the road infront of a crowd just so they can go slow?
