Hey Gang,
A friend of my son is looking for a good DD. She's a single mom and works at a fast food place , so budget is restricted to $2500. If you see anything the suits her in the greater Ann Arbor/Jackson area point me to it next week. Anything reliable in the way of a four door/wagon/minivan is what she needs.I won't be available to go see anything until Tuesday, so don't bust your humps over the holiday.
Thanks
Warren
Warren, I may end up with a nice 2003 Passat V6 4motion in Fresco Green for that price. I will let you know.
Any idea of the mileage on it,John?
178,520 but EVERYTHING has been replaced at least once.
I wouldn't give my best friend a used VW....my best enemy? MAYBE.
The answer is Japanese...and no, not Miata.
how about something that needs work for half that price?

There is a standard description for ANY Passat.
Nothing that needs work. She sold her last car because she couldn't afford a repair bill.
Single mom = needs to invest in some auto repair classes at the community college.
At least that's what I told my sister, that way even if she can afford to pay someone to fix it, she doesn't get taken to the cleaners.

Single moms tend not to have a lot of spare time. If she did, she'd probably put in a few more hours at work. Moms in general need something dead reliable.
Honda.
Wagon or Minivan is a big plus for parenting duty. Hard to find a Honda in that category, under that budget in a hurry. (though I'd love to suggest wagon attack.)
Subaru Forester/Outback/Legacy?
Volvo 740?
Saturn sw2?
Camry or Accord wagon?
W123 or 124 Benz? (mine was 3k, but it would do the job well.)
Good luck, I'll keep an eye out.
In reply to John Brown:
You sell that thing that cheap ms Brown will punch you in the ear-hole.

Kia's are inexpensive. Have her look for a 2nd Gen Sephia. Mine is dead reliable. 175K miles and only the alt has gone out.
my mother had a 1st gen sephia and it didnt give us any trouble intill its radiator found its way into a lifted truck's tow hitch.
