Update. Dropped 40lbs since first wrote this thread and now workout 4-5 days a week.
Job is meh. Looking for something more risky internally. I want something big and this company will give it to you. Wife still hates seattle.

How? I would like to drop 15 in 2 months and don't know that I can do it.
I worked with an Rd and was super strict on diet. I didn't realize it at the time but I was sick. My triglycerides were off the charts. Bad cholestorol. Lots of food intolerances.
Good for you fueled, I can only imagine how much better you feel now.
And mtn, you can still eat. But eating the right things and in moderation (and at the right time) is key. I eat a lot but keep balanced by metabolism and work so it doesn't go to fat.

My wife was a teacher who didn't believe in homeschooling until we ended up being homeschoolers. Things change. Hang in there.

I was just there on work last week. We caught up with a friend and former co-worker who's now lived there 9 months. She doesn't much like it. Her biggest problem is feeling like she never gets any sort of negative answer from anyone. We work in design, so that's a big deal. If you don't like something, speak up. If someone needs to get E36 M3 done, tell them. Those are her gripes, anyway. What is it that your wife is not thrilled about? Distance from connections primarily, or something else? I'm curious.
oh, and congrats on the weight loss. shows some great discipline.
Hey man, when E36 M3 gets hairy (don't know how I missed this thread last time around) don't forget you know people in Tacoma.
I usually have beer in the fridge and a place to crash (of course kids and wife are invited)

So. Seattle is a cool place, but it just dosen't feel like home. It has taken us nearly 1.5 years to develop any type of relationships with any friends. Even then, Everyone is so insular that trying to branch out is tough. My wife is a stay at home mom and has had a hell of a time finding friend through the kids school. The people are generally insular and keep to themselves. We've met some nice neighbors, but they all just say hi and leave it to that. Also, everyone is passive aggressive to a fault. An east coast guy like myself dosen't do well. I'm either too aggressive or not enough.. Weird dynamic.
The cost of living has spiraled recently as well, putting us out of the running for buying a house anytime soon. We're talking nearly 20% appreciation for 2-3 years straight Year over Year. The whole place has a bubbleish feel.
Overall its an OK place. I'm not in love, my wife misses her friends, and my kids are relatively indifferent.

Ah, I thought that was where her friends lived. Sorry, my memory of old threads was slighly off.
Is there anything any of us can do? Did you at least get some good time off? Have you thought of sending the wife away for a long weekend or something to get away?

Everyone is cool here in Chicago, as long as you hate the packers.
In my area house prices are very low, but the property taxes are high (and are forever).

Appreciate it.. but things are much better now. We're on the upswing now. Just need to get the job thing in line.. :-)
We are going camping with some friends this weekend.

Can make a big difference. My job went from a train wreck (literally, and yes, I actually meant literally) to a (figurative) paradise recently, and it helped a lot.
Now stop screwing yourself and figure out your career.
By the way, we have 22 openings for engineery things in Washington. If you're interested in hearing more, PM me and I'll send you some descriptions.

I've actually got an interesting story there, might type it up sometime as it would help a lot of people. I took a hell of leap to supercharge my career.. made some right moves, some wrong ones.. but am still moving forward. I can guarantee most everyone on this board has consumed a product I have touched now, probably weekly.... :-)
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine:
wait, how have we consumed and how have you touched? I'm allergic to nuts. Just want to be safe.

Me too. A word to the wise....
Contains walnuts. Ask me how I know. Also my kids now know, as they had to sit in the back of the mini van as daddy was taken to the hospital.
