is tomorrow. Don't forget to thank the veterans you know/see for their service. We'd be screwed without it.

Also, today is the Marine Corps birthday. If you know a jarhead, punch them in the arm and wish them happy birthday. oohrah!
10 years ago today, I was participating in a 223 mile relay run with my company. (I ran a few legs, maybe 8 miles total.) I don't miss the running, but I do miss the awesome cake!
Hoorah! Happy Birthday, Devil Dogs! I got out of the Marines 10 years ago. As funny as it may seem, I am just now graduating college and may try for a commission.

Thank you all Veterans, no matter which branch or the length of your service. If you happen to see a VFW member hawking a Buddy Poppy, please donate and buy one.

Close- they're cadets. It's just a picture I found on google from some academy or another.
It's not me cutting the cake; I got to wear stripes during my military career, as a working man should. The guy cutting the cake is an officer, likely the most OCS-fresh Lieutenant evarrr. USMC tradition has the youngest and oldest Marines present cut the birthday cake, so the guy has got to be like...young. (Recruits, Cadets, and Silly Villians don't count.)
At the Ball it is funny to hear all the gasps when they announce the birth date ot the youngest Marine there. It is always like,"....and the youngest Marine is PFC Shmukatellie, who was born yesterday morning and graduated Marine boot camp last night......". I, too, would like to thank all of our veterans. Thank you ladies and gent's for your selfless service and dedication!

If they were sailors, they'd be fatter and more visibly hung over.
I can say that, cause I was in the Navy.
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
I have to mention our brethren up North (who back me up on a daily basis) so don't forget Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day and Armistice Day. And if anyone one here in the lower 48 thinks we are too good to thank them as well for our own freedoms, read up on yer history. Those guys are in the mix with us even right now, not just in NORAD, but Afghanistan as well.
