I hope this doesn't invite a wave of paddle propelled personal watercraft.
I just brought in a Replay XD to use as a demo in the shop. I need recommendations for video editing software. Not looking to release anything for the Cannes Film Festival, just want to edit the raw footage down to something nice.
Last time I was editing video I was using either a dual VHS editing deck, or just starting to play with a Video Toaster in an Amiga in college. Things have changed quite a bit since then...

Amiga....you got my attention.
But I came here to say I bought Corel Videostudio Pro X5 last year to mess with GoPro videos and love it. Really nice effects, I'm learning more and more each time I use it. And if you have experience with video editing you're farther than me already.
I think I paid maybe $40 on Amazon?
Microsoft and Apple both provide a decent, basic video editing solution with their Operating Systems.
If you're looking to add data, picture in picture, etc. Then check out RaceRender.
Hope this helps!
Thanks guys!
Jerry, I was certified to repair Amiga 500's & 2000's way back when. I studied video production in college, but had an IT job paying my way though school. Stayed on the IT path out of school since it paid and video didn't. Last video editing I did was almost 20 years ago.
I should have mentioned I'm running Windows 7. Doesn't look like MS included any editing software in 7.
Turboswede, I'll look into RaceRender.
Adobe Premiere Elements. Gives you 90% of the capabilities of Premiere at 10% the price. There's not much you won't be able to do,and it's a well-supported program.

7 has Windows Movie Maker in it, at least in the Home and Pro versions. I've been using it to final compile the videos after editing them in Premier Pro, to get file sizes manageable.
I also had a Video Toaster on an Amiga 2000, but stuck with the Lightwave 3D portion of that set up and went in to architectural animation instead of video editing.
Another worth checking out is VideoPad Video Editor. I like it better than Windows Movie Maker and it's got a free trial.

Thanks JG. Premiere was on the radar, but the price was not. I'll give Elements a look.
If you have an apple.. you can get professional results with Final Cut Pro. I used it when I edited professionally. The learning curve can be a little steep at first, but it will not take long to get up to speed
Microsoft windows movie maker is a free download as well. I use it for my vids as its pretty simple for a non tech guy :)
I have a program called Power director. IT costs about $60 or so. It is very good and very intuitive. I recommend it. I have tried the adobe and the windows stiff and the Power Director is just easier.
Zombie thread, canoe deleted.
it only took 4 years for Rob's prediction of paddle powered watercraft to come true
I'm use Joyoshare Media Cutter, costs me $30 or so, an simple one yet effective video editing program. I've also tried other complicated program like Premiere CC, but its not suitable for me, at least the moment.
