That is just the coolest story! now, if my kids would just find me a fully restored Datsun 510 I could be just like the dad in the video!
My ex's step-father bought a Norton Commando 850 Interstate new. I think it is a 1975 or '76 but for sure I know it was the second to last year they were imported to the US.
I came on the scene around 1995. He had the entire bike in a shed behind the house, where it had been for years. It was not perfectly clean but about once a year he would go out to the shed and hit the whole bike with about a can's worth of WD40. He used the WD40 on every surface as a rust inhibitor.
Years later, around 2005 I had been off the scene for over 5 years. He must have been just about 70 yrs old. He and I had remained on good terms. He called me up and invited me over to the house, he had the Norton back on the road.
It is an ultra cool bike in the same black/gold as shown here. He loves to take the bike to shows and brag that it is all the original paint and he knows because he is the original owner.
