Oddball event here. Monday evening when I arrived home my Jetta's odometer read 299999 miles. On my way to work Tuesday morning I was waiting for the big event and the odometer went to.....
Zero.
Huh?

That's crazy. This is a digital odometer, right?
I wonder how that got decided. I mean, it's not like someone doing software picked the wrong size storage for the number. 300k isn't a Y2k type issue... They had to have actually set a max value of 299,999, I think.
Maybe it to was amazed that it made it to 300,000 miles and decided to reset the odometer as it can't be right
The '04 and' 05 Prius can only go to 299,999 miles. I think they stay at 299,999 and do not go to zero. Generally, they do no add another counted mile to the digital read out.
For '06+ Toyota fixed the issue so it is possible to go to 300,000 miles and beyond (but not more than 999,999)
Seems that the same cars in Canada will not pass 299,999 kilometers which is less than 185,000 miles.
