I take offense at that. Well, for all of the good rednecks out there. Rednecks do NOT have a monopoly on stupidity.

(as evidenced by some of those cars)

Am I the only one who really wants to see a post mortem on the truck? I know it broke, but I'd love to see exactly what broke.

I'd bet it's blown shocks, damaged shock mounts, possibly bent suspension members depending on how the bump stops work, and a bent frame...in addition to the airbag going off.

You're not alone. I paused it a few times and you could see the bed bottom out along with the front passenger side. Looked nasty. I want to see the result.

Is the very dark spot evidence of blowing the berk out of the oil pan or just a spot of freshly torn up earth?

I'll go with twisted frame, blown bags, and otherwise just some dents/dings. Prolly would still run.

Hey now, that is apples to oranges. The Trooper would go full speed over that ramp and land all right because it would have only been about 8 inches off the ground.

That's OK. Lesson I learned from guys doing sky shots in MX: the one still running and moving and able to complete more laps at the end of the jump wins.

But with much more post-jump footage.

The front pax side looked like it hit HARD. there is probably a lot of damage to the suspension and bodywork on that side. I couldn't tell if any of the tires blew though? I know when my friends jeep took a jump that had his wheels ~10ft off the ground his swaybar disconnects ended up going through the fender... The Raptor is going to cost a TON to fix, if it ever drives straight again...

Since you want to be pedantic about it, it was a different angle: the camera-wielder was probably 10-15 feet to the right of the original camera. Thus a different angle.

I am constantly amazed at how often they encourage folks who just flew like a bird (and then landed like a sperm whale dropped from several miles above the planet's surface...) to get out of the pancaked vehicle and "walk it off". Haven't they ever heard of spinal injuries?

Thus causing the car to nose down more...shoulda gone on the gas!

Even if the car DID have air brakes it wouldn't have helped

This is why for an offroad seat you want something that's leaned back a bit with good lumbar support (like stock Sammy seats), that way on landing the impact is spread out and doesn't go straight down your spine. Plus you can drive down a steeper hill before you're basically hanging from the seatbelts.

Considering all the mountain bike videos I've watched with people landing far larger jumps, I think the suspension probably absorbed much of the impact that would have imbued spinal injuries. I could be wrong though. You gotta figure there is tire cushion, suspension cushion, and seat cushion at work there.

I think whiplash may have been more of a concern. They basically did a headbang into an airbag that then punched their face backward again.
