So I've been working on the car in the garage everyday and find ground up insulation in the trunk. It appears to be from the shifter turret that I worked on but didn't put back together.
My entry point are my garage doors. There is about a 1 3/4" gap at both ends of the door. Even if I replace the seal and install a seal that glues to the floor I'll still have a gap big enough for the critters. Any suggestions? Only thing I could come up with is:
1. Grind the floor so door sits in a groove. 2. Lay a strip of cement or asphalt on top of the concert to allow the door to sit into. 3. Get a cat and lock it in the garage.
3 may cause more problems so I'm looking for ideas. Thanks!
Poison works, but they go somewhere to die; mostly looking for water.
Set a trap, like a mouse trap, rat trap or a Have A Heart. I don't know if it works on little critters, but I sprinkled dehyydrated Coyote urine along my fence where a woodchuck has been digging, no new digs.
Dan
I'm getting traps but I really after prevention ideas. The doors seal so badly against the floor.

So I just need to trap a coyote and extract some urine. :). Might be hard to find now that xmas decorations are in the stores now
Do you have a rural king, tractor supply, farm & home, and/or a store like that nearby? They usually carry poisons, traps and repellents during this time of year. The pests are usually seeking shelter in your barn, shed, garage or house because of harvesting and the weather getting colder.
Replace the seal, trap what still makes it through, that's really all you can do.
In reply to Chesterfield :
6 traps around the door.
Ajust the door so it closes lower. New seal.
Get a Black snake.
I have a coyote hybrid if you'd like some urine shipped. That being said the mice don't seem to be kept from getting into the house by her scent, though she's very house broken, she's more adept at catching and eating them.
Make it harder for them to get in. Kill the ones that do get in. Traps baited with peanut butter seem to work well.
if you do not mind sacrificing steel wool, they won't eat through it. Lay some down under the door and close it.
Hardware cloth is your friend. Cut it in strips and staple it to the inside of the door at the bottom. It's flexible enough to conform to the floor but strong enough to resist all but the most determined rodents that size. Those determined ones can be caught in glue traps on the inside floor.

Poison. It works.
This. I pulled what little hair I have left out trying to eliminate a couple mice in our drive-under garage with snap-traps, sticky-traps, etc etc etc.
Poison chunks had em gone in a week. I really can't stress this enough. You're wasting your time with anything else.

I put 3 victor traps and 3 plastic traps last night. He licked the victor traps clean without tripping. Apparently, I'm working with a tongue talented mouse here. He must had his fill of Nutella and passed on the plastic traps.
Ill pick up some poison tomorrow.
