For me, it's Desperados Under the Eaves. Though Carmelita is a close second.
So, so, so thankful I got to see him in concert before he left us. In no particular order and often depends on my level of self-loathing.
Play It All Night Long (live version)
Boom Boom Mancini
Mohammad's Radio
Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead
Don't Let Us Get Sick
My E36 M3's berkeleyed Up
Mr. Bad Example
Yeah, I’m not terribly creative... I have to go with Lawyers, Guns and Money too. (Dad, get me out of this!).
It’s certainly not The Envoy.
It was Mr. Bad Example, but for the past several months Splendid Isolation has been rather appropriate...
What? No love for Excitable Boy?
There are so many.... 'Keep Me In Your Heart' is what I've told my wife to play at my funeral. 'She's Too Good For Me' when I live in the past and am angry with myself for how I treated people in the past.
Werewolfs, Lawyers, Poor, Poor Pitiful me ... All of em!
Just one fav ... can't do it
Too darned many to choose from, but I am particularly fond of The Indifference of Heaven, Roll With The Punches, and They Moved the Moon.
I think it’s easier to pick a favorite album, which would be Mutineer.
Edit: really wish I’d seen him in person before he passed away. He was a great songwriter.
For some reason, I kept coming up with Levon Helm songs. I used to have whichever album had the Boob Boon Mancini song on it back in the late 80's. Don't think I've listened to many Warren songs since.
Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, and Lawyers, Guns and Money are good.
The following video is a nice version and story.
Hard to pick, but I have to give props to Hindu Love Gods- basically, REM, minus Stipe, plus Zevon. Good stuff for fans
A year ago I wouldn't have known who he was. I don't recall where I heard him first, probably just Werewolves on the radio. I like the albums I've listened to since then, but I have to be in the right mood.
Gorilla, You're a Desperado
Werewolves (Live at the Roxy version--with the "Coupe DeVille" verse)
Things to do in Denver When You're Dead
Mr. Bad Example
Jungle Work
So many--he was my favorite and I was lucky enough to see him live in 1987 in Iowa City
