Yes, it seems dumb to turn to a bunch of car enthusiasts for medical advice, but this post doesn't count against my deductible, doesn't require any time in a waiting room, and I don't have to 'turn and cough'. This morning, before jumping in the shower my vision got blurry for a few minutes. Nothing major, just kind of odd. I passed it off as being tired and wanting to go back to bed.
Then, about 20 minutes later I was at the breakfast table with the family and suddenly, I was seeing double. It was pretty bad. I couldn't read, my eyes were watering and I felt like my left eye was crossed. I also had a slight headache at the time.
That lasted for maybe 10-15 minutes. My wife said I was 'acting kinda weird' and that i seemed to be speaking slowly. My kids knew something was up and were alarmed. Because of that, I drove to work (yes, with double vision) because I didn't want my kids to freak out. I had to cover one eye and I drove slow. Eventually, the double-vision cleared up, the headache is still kinda there, and a co-worker said my left eye was red.
I know if I call a doctor, he'll tell me to come in immediately and pay them thousands and in the end will tell me to get more rest or to stop buying old European cars (no particular reason, just seems like good medical advice).
should I go to the doctor? Should I buy another old European car? If so, Italian this time?
In reply to DrBoost:
A similar thing has happened to me before. I don't know what it is, but I seem to be functioning just fine. Buy an Italian car.
Consult a physician before purchasing an Italian car, and do it today.
Edit: I mean the physician part, not necessarily the Italian part.

I'd say you should go to the doc. Probably should have gone to the ER immediately. I won't lecture you about driving with a medical condition and impaired vision since I've been in the same boat, but yeah...
A headache with impaired vision might have been an ocular migrain, but the "acting weird, speaking slowly" stuff could indicate a serious issue if accurate.
Sounds A LOT like a stroke, or at least something serious enough that you should see a doctor right away.
Are you on any medicine that can cause seizures? I'm inclined to not think it necessarily was, but it is an unlikely possibility.
Please get checked out by a doc, Doc.
Yeah I was thinking migraine too, until you mentioned the part about noticeable speech problems - that sounds very similar to the experiences of a couple people I know who've had strokes.
Sounds like possibly a mini-stroke, get checked now.
I better call a doctor too. I've been experiencing episodes of blurred vision, slow speech, and general spaced-out behaviour.
That's exactly what my neighbor had happen to him and his was a stroke. Call a real doc.

Lay off the brownies.
You know that I sink too much money into my car to afford brownies.

You need to stop what you are doing and call the ambulance to take you to the hospital. NOW.
That was either a stroke or a siezure. Or something else brain related. And you only get one brain, and it can't be transplanted, so...
Yeah... all joking aside, dial 911. You could actually die. Or, possibly worse.
Could be a TIA, transient ischemic attack, too.... Not really a stroke but mimics one. Usually have a few of those before a real stroke happens.
How's the blood pressure?
Go see a doctor. The talking funny part is worry some. Does any part of your face feel numb or tingly? This happened to my wife a few times leading up to my wife's stroke. If it is a stroke the sooner it's caught the better off you will be.
She went on to buy a little Italian car after the stroke.

Ah, the great US Healthcare system. You've most likely had a minor stroke and you don't want to get it checked because of the out of pocket expense. Get to hospital NOW!

I am trying to set up an appointment now. The double vision is gone, I have a slight headache still though. While I had thought about the possibility of a stroke, I totally forgot about MS. My dad died 2 months ago after battling MS for 25 years, his sister died from it. His first symptoms were vision-related.
After watching my dad die over the course of 25-30 years, I'll take any other malady than MS.
I didn't even think to check my BP this morning. My BP has always run 'on the high end of normal', and I don't eat right. Maybe that's it.
So, I'm thinking the Italian car needs to be sub $6K. Any suggestions?

Oh, and no odd, half-face-working symptoms. The slow speech could have been because I was preoccupied with watery eyes and serious double vision. I think I need another Jeep CJ7. that'll fix this.

My MIL thought she had a stroke (Bell's Palsy) and she was whisked into a room at the ER immediately.

OK. Here's your prescription:
No doctor am I. Though i do have MS, and it is slowly eating its way through my brain.
Ms symptoms dont come and go like what you've described. They can come on that fast, but they linger.
I do have migraines like that. For me, the world goes psychedelic, and i tend to become thick in thinking and slow in speech.
Those migraines became much worse and more frequent after the buke crash the other year.
There are triggers that i know, as well some i dont. Dark coffee for example, a large cup in the afternoon will do it to me. Certain lighting or motion, though that has greatly diminished now.
So yea, i would also say you should consider seeing a doctor. Though this late after an attack, there is probably not much a doctor can see or diagnosis.
