The weekend started at 5 pm. By 5:30 we had two injury accidents in town, a gunshot wound, and a high speed chase in progress. That's not typical. I just flew one of those patients to a trauma center, I'm off work now and the night pilot is taking off for another now.
Be safe out there with your cars, grill, boats, planes, (and motorcycles). Even if you're not in Ok, there's likely to be some drunk Okies around and while generally friendly, it can lead to trouble.
Yes, good advice, and I hope you stay safe too.
I'm lucky to be in a quiet place, where nothing strange ever happens. That is, except for...
Florida man!
Everyone take a minute to slow down this weekend. Coming home from work yesterday I noticed a lot of people were in a panicked hurry. Always a recipe for disaster.
Most people in Oklahoma, my home town of Sand Springs for example, are worried about the epic flooding that is happening right now.
Many smaller communities on the Arkansas riverhave been evacuated, and in to Arkansas this weekend.
You must not be in Tulsa or OKC, because gun shots, robberies, and accidents aren't out of the ordinary, especially in certain parts of town.

No, I'm not from the cities, but do know of those areas to avoid. My son lives in Jenks and is watching the Arkansas pretty closely. Lots of road closures between here and Tulsa.
Typically on the Memorial Day weekend we have someone with a head injury from falling out of the back of a pickup truck on Highway 10, a couple drunk beatings and stabbings along the Illinois River (campgrounds and rafting trips), and three or four serious car wrecks. It all just kicked off really fast yesterday at 5 with all the local ambulances out at once. Ft Gibson and Tenkiller are too flooded to go to this weekend - all the campgrounds and parks are deep underwater, but the Illinois is looking good so far.
That is one of the unfortunate things about Tulsa and OKC, certain areas of both cities drive up our violent crime-per-capita stats into some of the highest in the nation.
The rest of the areas are just fine.
You don't hang out in far east or far north Tulsa, you don't hang out in SW OKC.

...and now I'm on standby for a scene call on the river. Don't know if it's a beating, pickup truck jumper, or bridge diver. Be safe.
