I have a Seiko Kinetic watch that needs a replacement band. Bicycle crash screwed it up. It takes a 19mm band with curved ends. I can't find a place online that carries decent bands. I've found some crappy knock offs, but nothing that appears to be a real bit. I can get away reusing my band if I could find the end bits. Again, can't find them.

I know a lot of you guys are watch freaks. I also know most of you guys are like me and don't like sending your watch off for something as trivial as a band replacement. Where do you guys get your parts?

Here is a picture of a watch like mine. Hotlinked for ultra goodness.

pmwf.com (learned about that forum here) watchuseek.com is a bit more "upscale" but also good

Why not just find a local jeweler who deals in Seikos? I've broken the band on my old Seiko before, and I was able to get it fixed at a local store while I waited.

+1 on local jewler.

When I broke the metal band on my timex in a white water incident I ended up taking it to a local jeweler, who was my bosses nephew, and he fixed it properly. For free. I'd have replaced the band, but it is unique to that model watch.

Sorry for the OT, but try a local jeweler.

I would also vote for a local jeweler or watch repairman as down the road when you need it serviced they will be the ones to visit for that also.

The local jewlers have stopped carrying Seiko watches, claiming they had a hell of a time getting warranty work done on them. The store I bought mine from closed, so they're not an option.

As it sits, I have to drive about 45 minutes to the nearest jewler that carries Seikos. I've asked the jewlery counters in department stores that carry Seikos, and they either simply don't keep parts for watches on hand, or didn't do repairs on site at all. What a crock.

I guess I'll let my fingers do the walking and call up some shops out of town and see if I can get what I need.

Send me the numbers from the case back.

I am a practicing watchmaker and have "sources".

I must add that Seiko sometimes stops making case and bracelet parts for their watches.

5m62-0bn0 on the case back, 35j8-zi on the band.

I'm not against a new bracelet all together, as long as it doesn't look glaringly out of place. I'd rather not spend half of the value of the watch on a bracelet, though. If it comes to spending more than about $75 on getting this one fixed, I'll consider buying a new watch.

No listing in any of the data I can access while not in the shop. I will check further when I get in on Tuesday.

It doesn't seem to be a terribly popular watch. I wouldn't be at all surprised if parts are completely dried up.
