hey everybody, does anyone have any car related watches that they wanna show off?

I just bought this one on the E-bays.

It is a Seiko Sportura Honda Racing F1 Green Line Edition (say that 10 times fast).

(not as bad as my dream watch, the "1993 Ayrton Senna commemorative Championship Edition Tag Heuer Link)

OK, I'll bite

This one's sorta car related. It was distributed by Shell Oil in the early 1940s. It is not my everyday watch. It was produced by Girard Perregaux and is fully skeletonized so you can see all of the movements. It was made available to the gas station attendants at that time for about five bucks. The rumor is that it was originally filled with Shell Oil to show the benefits of Shell lubrication, but the watch cases would not hold the oil and were eventually drained. I don't know if this is true for sure, as it is debated still on the internets, but it is very cool nonetheless.

Aw gees, where to start? In my collection I have-

  1. Heuer F1 Crono (on my wrist now)
  2. Heuer Monaco limited eddition Lemans Monaco with white dial with blue and red stripe.
  3. Corum Rolls Royce grille watch.
  4. Gruen Curvex, designed for the side of the wrist to be seen while gripping the steering wheel.

Mostly I have vintage dive watches and cronographs.

I'm a watch maker, I buy these watches in various states of disrepair and fix them with the goal of selling them, I then become attached to them and keep them. Lately I have been thinking about thinning the heard a bit.

that pocket is really cool.

I want a Heuer Monaco so bad. I might get one when I get my first "real" job.

On a related note, there will be a piece on motorsports-inspired watches in the January 2009 issue of Classic Motorsports. (I can cross-promote, right?)

Personally, I'm now wearing a Tissot PRS 516 Automatic and have a TAG Heuer Carrera at home. The Monaco is cool, too. One day, maybe.

I hope it is better than the piece that was in Octane. It was okay, but not great. Classic is better than that.

Hopefully our story is better. What's neat is that if you want a motorsports watch you can spend $30k on a Rolex Daytona or two or three hundred on a Tissot or Seiko F1. Add to that all of the pre-owned deals out there.

I've been so busy lately that I have backed off on checking timezone and pmwf every day, but there are still a few watches I'd like--some kind of funky '60s diver chronograph would be cool.

At the end of the '99 TransAm season, the team owner bought all the crew some really nice Momo Design watches.

I rarely wear watches now that I've entered the cellphone era of my life, but when snazzing up for some sort of swanky event, the Momo watch is sure to make an appearance.
