Yes, the 2013 tail lights are a huge improvement over the 10-12. The back end still isn't perfect, but is good enough now. The hood louvers look fine to me, provided they work. Otherwise, dumb. Better than a fake scoop that just gets in the way. Yeah, the wheels are ugly but it's an easy fix.
Yes, the vents are functional. There's a small opening (1-2" wide, but runs the whole length of the vents) through the under hood fiberous mat that allows the heat to escape.
The wheels I'm not a fan of either. Wheels can be changed easily, we all know that. The 19" is a pain in the ass to get tires for, but up it one inch and you open yourself to lots of choices. Or, reversely, drop down to 18's and you're all good. Just have to get the correct offset and spacing to clear the rotors and calipers.

I was hoping that they would fix the rearend, but it's not fixed enough for me. Still looks like a jap car.
And the front! They had it nailed in the '12 IMO, and just plain ruined it for 2013. I'm really disappointed, as I was ready to buy.
BTW, I saw a bright blue 13 GT at the auto show a month ago. That black one you show wouldn't look at good in a light color.
Did I mention the fog lights/driving lights in the center are actually LED's?

Which Jap car? I've never seen anyone like it. They still look like updated '69 Mustang units. I love the fact that they retained the sequential lights, too.

I disagree. Love the Shelby nose on all of them, much more attitude. I didn't like the regular 10-12 nose as much as my '06, but the '13 gets the attitude back.

I think it looks great in the school bus yellow of the BOSS.

Also looks good in Grabber Blue, I think...

No vintage mustang ever had tail lights that angled up towards the outside.
Many Jap cars do. It doesn't look like any one in particular, it just looks Japanese to me. The rear panel (not tail lights) is shaped a lot like the last gen Toyota Supra.
The Shelby grill looks like it belongs on a truck.
Love it in Grabber blue.
Maybe a Camry would please some of the critics?

Really? Not enough for me to say it looks japanese:

I do see a lot of this, but stylized and made modern:

Yes, really. I already told you I wan't talking about any car in particular, I just used the Supra as an example. It resembles it. I never said it looks exactly like it.
Hey, it's my opinion, okay? You're not going to change it based on your opinion. Live with it. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
The wheels look damn near identical to my RX-8 wheels
The rear fascia is still all wrong. The front I'm not digging as much as last year either. In that yellow pic, it almost looks like it's inspired by that every-90's-dodge-grill-that-was-inspired-by-the-RAM-grill-look.

Say, that's a japanese car, isn't it?
Not that there's anything wrong with japanese cars, except that a mustang shouldn't look like one.

That's what I was thinking when I wrote that it looked like it should be on a truck. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was done to increase air flow through the radiator, but who knows.

I work at a Ford dealership, we just got our first 2013 5.0 GT in. Friggin nice!! Black, no stripes, Brembo pkg, Sync, Track App, 6-speed. EXACTLY how I'd order it.... I think they're trying to tempt me... Pix forthcoming.
You'd admitting to wanting Sync?
I like the sync too. Have it on the wifes Focus.
I really like the new Mustangs but would opt for a v6 manual with track pack or whatever its called.
I kinda like the vents... I find myself wondering what other cars I can fit them into ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)
I have to say I rather like the 2013 Mustang. Maybe it's because I am a JDM y0 type, but I find them and the 2010-2012 bodies to be sleeker than the 2005-2009 models. The taillights kind of bothered me at first, but they've grown on me. The black panel is def. a nice throwback to the 70's models.

I test-drove a Performance Package Mustang and I liked it, a lot. I liked it so much, that's what I'm getting in 4-8 weeks to replace my Mazdaspeed3. That's right, I took the plunge. 2013 Ford Mustang V-6 manual, Deep Impact Blue, with the Performance Package and cloth Recaro seats. Think this minus the spoiler, hood vents, and foglights...

Wow. Forget the new Toyobaru and the Abarth, I want THAT!
I want a new Mustang so bad......

I'd rather just have a Mustang like that.
I hated Mustangs as a kid. Except for once, I always had one of the other brands and I always outran them, but that was yesterday. Of the current crop faux pony cars the Mustang sings to me the most. The Boss 302 sings the loudest.
They are big, fat, under interiored for the actual size of the car (did they just panel over space so they could give the inside the (moreorless) same interior size of the originals?) BUT on the road by themselves they maintain more of the old school spirit than the others.

Those taillights and the huge swaths of black plastic near the license plate thinger are awful.
hmm.. anyone have a Ford part number for those hood vents?

I sat in a new 5.0 at the auto show this year, I rowed through the gears and made "VROOM VROOM!" noises. It was an experience I'll not soon forget and it left me with a pretty good impression about the new Mustangs.
