Just got an email from on high; somewhere 1/2 mile south of here someone hit a transformer.
I'm thinking trash can on a pole, not this thing.
This area is well off the road, the guy hopped a curb, took out a wrought iron fence and then landed here.
Musta been booking.
Yeah, folks might be without power for a minute or two.
Maybe he was trying to steal copper?
what was that before it tried its best imitation of a bug on a bug-zapper? the (missing) roof looks like the panoramic maxima roof to me.

It looked more like a crossover to me, but one thing we can all agree on is that he stuck the landing.

See what had happened was.
Holy crap, is that the transformer station on Broadway in Menands next to the old Montgomery Ward's building? If so, the guy might have flown up the exit from 787, blown through the light and crashed through the fence.
I'm going to have to see if anybody I know responded.
This is where I'm talking about.
(protip: there is some great smallmouth fishing on the greenway on the northbound entrance ramp to 787)
I see another 'unintended acceleration' lawsuit coming.
You're right Brett. Evidently the guy/girl peeled off the ramp, T-Boned the nose of a van, went though a wrought iron fence, went over two small transformers and then bit the big one.
Yes Officer, I was well within the posted speed limits.....
I totally had my first car accident on the same ramp. Nowhere near as catastrophic, though.
Asked somebody on Facebook who is still living in Menands what happened. She said they lost power in the Empire State Plaza because of that crash.
This is the other car, apparently:
I can't believe that other car looks so terrible. What on earth was that first car doing to do THAT to the poor Caravan?
How funny would it be if that car was a Chevy Volt?
