I also did a Rolls. A 1961 Silver Shadow.
(She and I were both born in 1961)
'56 Cadillac Limo. Our ceremony and reception were at the same place so while everyone else was enjoying drinks and appetizers, we got shuttled around downtown Cleveland for pictures.
1929 Model A. The groomsmen took the Edsel.
TBH cruising away from the church towards our reception with Tom in the Model A was my favorite part of our wedding day.
We drove away in the 911. I purchased it after we got engaged in 2001. We were married in 2002. She's kept me and I kept the car. I'll edit this if I can find the pictures of the car at the wedding.
Congrats to the OP! My 2011 F150 when it was about 2 yrs old. Still have it and the bride. Bought brand new in 2011 and just hit 104,000 miles yesterday. Still the newest ride in my fleet. If getting married today, I'd still pick it or my avatar Buick. My only other cars I owned at the time were my 1st and 3rd cars, both 97 Accord sedans, with over 200K miles each at the time.
A crusty S10 showed up first, standard cab short bed 4.3 5MT, as a joke. Then we went off in an 85 XJ6, probably would have used my 89 M3 but it was a two door.
I proposed to Mrs. VCH at the Southernmost point in Key West, at Sunrise, having driven our 1964 Corvair convertible to get there.
On our wedding day, I was supposed to drive our 1949 Plymouth to the wedding, but it broke down en route. i had spent a few months before our wedding getting it running and driving. And it worked....for about 10 minutes.
I then jogged 6 miles back home, grabbed the only other running vehicle on hand - my beater 1967 Volvo Amazon wagon- and drove that to the church. As I had been in such a hurry to get there, I neglected to realize it had no license plate on it.
Mrs. VCH drove herself to the church in our 1980 450SL, top down (though it was up for this picture, for some reason).
Terrible picture of these cars:
At the church, the wedding party conveniently put a giant "Just Married" sign over where the license plate ought to have been on the Volvo, and we drove it to the reception.
We took the 450SL on our honeymoon, after retrieving the '49 Plymouth from the side of the road and getting the questionably-legal Volvo wagon home.
13 years later, we still own all of these vehicles, with the exception of the 450SL, which eventually got sold since there was no room in it for car seats.
We just did a boring rental limo.
My best man's car was stolen from the parking lot during our rehearsal dinner. Fortunately it was recovered the next day. They tried to get my MIL's minivan first but were unsuccessful.
1956 RR Silver Cloud, chauffeured rental.
Almost 43 years ago. She passed at home 8 months ago.
I am almost done with The Playlist To End All Playlists for her Memorial.
For our 30th anniversary I came up with a great gift. I dug out her box of 45 rpm records from her teen years, made a list, rounded up most of them, then burned them onto CD´s. The CDR´s I used are printed up to look like old school 45´s. You should have seen the smile on her face when I presented the gift and her gratitude when we played them for the first time.
So, I started there. Included a bunch of tunes from concerts we attended over the years. More songs from the music gifts we had given one another. The last piece of the puzzle is the Playlist from our wedding reception. Trying to track that down. Just flashed on a song I need to add, Ohio Players, Love Rolercoaster. Big time radio play when we first dated.
Where are the damn Kleenex?
The Bentley is no longer in the fleet. I do have a replacement though. She's mostly original and might not be pretty enough for a wedding car though.
Mine was a 1968 Firebird 400
I do have a funny wedding car story that happened to me when I was a groomsmen
It was in the town I grew up in with all my old high school friends. Everyone had cool cars. There was 1969 GTOs, Chevelles, C10 trucks, old Cadillac, 911 ect.
At the time my dad had a 1963 split window Corvette that I was going to show up in to see all the guys and gals I had not see in years. An hour before the wedding and we couldn't get the damn thing started. I ended showing up in my mom's old beat up Subaru forester with cow skin front seat covers, coexist sticker pack, and wind chime rear view mirror accessory.
So embarrassing, haha. That's what I get for trying to show off.
