I've been wondering what Weird Al's been up to. Glad he hasn't "retired" yet. Amish Paradise is my favorite Al video.

I used to tape Dr Demento off the radio. I've probably still got a cassette of it somewhere, including My Bologna along with a bunch of the others from other artists like "Star Trekkin'".
Loved word crimes. I have to admit, though, I didn't get or like the other three new ones.
The video made it, without that it lacked a lot of the humor.
I recall "Polka your eyes out" quite fondly. Still think his MJ stuff is better than MJ.
"Word Crimes" is pretty good, although my personal favorite (probably because I'm a huge RAtM fan) is still "I'll Sue Ya"
I was a bigger fan once, and I still admire his eccentricity. That said, parody is lost on me any more.
But he has become part of the pony world
His first breakthrough was actually a car related song. "Belvedere Cruising" was a "love song" to his 1964 Belvedere wagon. First picked up by the Dr. Demento show in 1976. Yeah, I was in High School. Been a fan for almost 40 years.
Lines like, "Something about a Comet, that makes me want to vomit", and "Those Datsuns just ain't worth a fudgesicle".
Dr. Demento referred to him as "Alfred, and his magic accordian". Wow, I feel old!

Actually, I thought the video was the only thing that made that Radioactive song interesting.
I've heard that Weird Al has a song on the new album that tips his hat to one of my favorite bands of all time, Southern Culture On The Skids. Haven't heard it yet, though.

Seconded. Been to several of his concerts and I am awaiting the announcement of the latest tour.
...for $20 and a my '54 Plymouth, maybe I can get a second hand Schwinn....
Stop draggin' my car around....

no wonder I was labeled a geek back then.

i can't hear Smells Like Teen Spirit without singing Al's lyrics... they're just better- i mean "it's hard to bargle nawdle zous with all these marbles in my mouth" is just genius...
i know a few Nirvana fanboys that hate that he "mocked" them like that, but i saw an interview where all 3 of the Nirvana guys thought it was an honor to have Weird Al do up their song- Kurt especially..

It does, and it is glorious.

In reply to novaderrik:
Apparently when Kurt heard that Weird Al had parodied "Teen Spirit", his words were "It's not about food is it?"
"Eat It" was Weird Al's last big hit before "Smells like Nirvana".

he had a few hits in between those: "Fat" being one of them... which was, i guess, about food..
"Like a Surgeon" and "Living with a Hernia" were in there, too..

As a SCOTS fan, I approve.
About 'Eat It', somewhere or other I read that the costumes etc for the extras in the video are the same ones MJ used in 'Beat It,' even had some of the same actors and MJ was behind it 100%.
...and "Lame Claim to Fame" is today's video:

you're probably thinking of the "Smells Like Nirvana" video, which i believe was shot in the same school gym with the same janitor as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video... everyone in the "Fat" video was much bigger than the guys in Bad..

I do seem to remember that they filmed the "Fat" video on the same set/location that the "Bad" video used.
