With the Prius (hopefully...) approaching being done and ready to sell soon, I continue to browse through the local listings looking for other potential cars to get and fix up. And I've on several occasions noticed postings like this one:

with the title "2003 Toyota Camry LE yjmawlst- $1000". They're almost always asking a lot less than the KBB value for the car (an only fair condition base 2003 Camry books at $4700), usually don't have anything wrong with it that would make me think that would be the most they'd expect to get, and are almost always rather 'artistic' pictures that look more like they're from a professional ad than a Craigslist posting.

I almost always ignore these posts because it just seems too good to be true- am I being paranoid? Has anyone seen this phenomenon elsewhere?

Spamming for email addresses. But if you have a junk email account there is no harm. Unless you send them the cash cards that they ask for before even seeing the vehicle

Same thing with Cell phones (at least in my area). Local boards have brand new factory unlocked iPhone 6, with a otter box, and a screen protector for $80, plus it comes preloaded with an app that will give you a haircut and make you waffles.

I love waffles.

That is a sure sign of a scam. Also listings with no contact info but the email listed in the car make or model field.

You'll need to log in to post.
