I finally had to replace my cell phone after five years. It was a Motorola Razr, great phone. Good call quality, durable (though not rated to hold up 255 pounds when I stepped on it), what else do you need in a phone. It's also discontinued as are most plain Jane phones. After some shopping, I was seriously considering a Crackberry. Having a PDA built in would be nice. No more calender and address book, no more post it notes all over the dash. The tiny screen and cramped buttons would have driven me crazy. I ended up with a HTC T-Mobile G2. Supposedly one of the better Android phones. Holy smoke, this thing is smarter than some of my friends. Comparing it to the Razr is like comparing a YF22 Raptor to the Wright Brothers plane. The Razr might as well be steam powered. Every time I use it I find something else it will do. I never figured on needing internet and email on the go, but they sure make my life easier. Hell, it can even be used as a bubble level. Ain't technology a wonderful thing.

The G1, my first smartphone, changed my life. I don't know how I'd function without it; it's allowed me to go places even more unprepared these days (forget the address? Look it up!) Rocking a Droid X now, which had the crown of best Android phone for about a month before the Galaxy S came out.

The G2 is a neat phone. The fact it runs a very lightly molested version of Froyo makes up for it's behind-the-curve 800MHz Snapdragon.

I still love my Razr, but my upgrade come on X-mas. I'm torn between a $300 iPhone4 or a free(work discount) sony experia(droid)

I have 2 months to make up my mind

I have a droid, and I LOVE it. it is wicked awesome, and I am only using it to about 2% capacity. I stepped up from an EnV 2, and it was night and day.

I find it funny you guys considered the RAZR dependable. I had three different RAZRs in a 2 month timespan because the ribbon cable to the screen would keep breaking. Sold it, got a Samsung something and have had it for about 4 years

The G1, my first smartphone, changed my life.

See now that's why I won't buy one. I don't like change.

But change it the natural order of things, like life.

I like the $16.99 liquor store special that I bought 4-5 years ago. It is a pre pay unit so I don't get bills in the mail and the only people that know my number are people that I give it to.

I don't mind change but in this case I just don't want to pay for it. Next upgrade I'm just going to have to switch from Verizon to get a 'smart phone' without a mandatory internet plan.

And maemo/meego > droid

Android is still playing catchup with maemo, and on Android, Google can remotely remove and install apps on a whim.

I gots a Palm Pixi. Was on the free list when my upgrade came due. Running WebOS, which is open source as well. I liked the fact it's built on the linux kernal and Palm/HP encourage you to develop your own Apps that you can list at their app store. They have a prize contigency right now for best app.

This might be a lesser supported phone, but I like it.

I have an iPhone and I would much rather have it then the Droid. It is mainly down to the touchscreen on the Droid. They really feel off.
