I'm hoping the next to go is Newt. Bachman doesn't have to drop out nor does Huntsman, that guy from Pennsylvania, or Perry. They will be non-factors whether they withdraw or stay in the race. How anyone can take either Romney or Newt as serious contenders to be our President is beyond me.

A recent survey showed that the majority of the country thinks that picking someone at random from the phone directory would be better than the pres or congress we have.

And with Cain there were a lots of items that spoke to his character. You want a person with weak character in the seat of the pres's office so that they can make hay for themselves? Weren't you paying attention when we had Clinton and Pres. Hope?

As much as the affairs of Cain were disturbing, what really disturbed me was his admission that after several days when the woman who CLAIMS they had a 13 year FRIENDSHIP (she admits there was no sex involved...if I heard it right) was topic number 1 on the news, Cain says he still has not spoken to his wife about it.

Newt is disturbing on many levels, but his latest "idea" that the cycle of government entitlements could/would be stopped if "kids" (not sure how young this would start) in poverty were put to work...smack of Marie Antionette's "...let them eat cake". Newt says these kids could be hired by, for example, libraries to help librarians. In the last 2 cities I've lived in, the hours and number of REAL librarians have been cut back because the local governments have been forced to balance their books. Newt (apparently?) thinks the FEDERAL government needs to cut spending, but state and local government should GLADLY(?) step in to fill the void that the federal government has left. A few of his other ideas as just as looney. Example? Those Occupy Wall Street folks should go get a job and get back to work...as if they have the time to picket because they PREFER to skip work or want to be un-employed.

The fact that the man was a Regional Federal Reserve Chairman of the Board is enough to tell me I didn't want to vote for him. The fact that for months any mention of his name on the news had to be prefaced with "businessman" or "former Godfather's Pizza CEO" made it perfectly clear that the media is good at selling whatever story somebody tells them to sell.

I do not want a person with weak character as President. Yes I was paying attention when we had Clinton and now Obama. That is why I cannot and will not support Newt or Romney if either of them win the GOP nomination. They are not men of character, but they are characters.

If we're making a list of nest featherers, be sure to add Bush II and Cheney.

Seriously though, Cain didn't leave any room to be taken seriously. Surprisingly, I haven't seen anyone who can be taken seriously due to the fractured nature of what used to be unified as the Republican Party. Hell, bring back Bob Dole, he's someone a left leaner like me could back.

I don't remember taking that survey. Anyone here take that survey? In fact, I don't remember taking any survey outside my preferences of TV shows.

The media wants Romney and Obama in the finals, with Obama on top. Romney will play the part McCain did in 2008, that of RINO-ish fall guy. Except Romney's barely a Republican.

I think it has more to do with the fact that no one can find serious dirt on him. The media likes stories, Romney is a bit bland for the "drama" media. I think he should change his last name to Grey.

Romney will fail due to flip flopping. His medical insurance bill he put into effect in Mass has a LOT of similarities to what President Obama pushed through.. and now Romney is decrying Obama's plan?

Newt also scares me.. and I really wonder how he can run as an "outsider" after being speaker of the house?!?

My stepdad is a sorta liberal guy, we get along great despite that. He made the comment this morning that the monitoring the Republican Presidential candidate field is like watching a clown car empty itself and I had to agree.

Ron Paul is the only one who really seems to make sense because he's measured, articulate and stays on message rather than squawking all over the place. That is not a recipe for attaining elective office, unfortunately.

Newt's biggest problem is going to be that after he blasted Freddie Mac during this campaign, it came out that they'd paid him $1.6 million for his services as a 'historian'. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204517204577042544141161500.html Man, wish I'd have gotten a history degree now.
