From Barry Grant press release:
As of today, February 18, 2011 we are ceasing operations at our Dahlonega location and all subsidiary locations. Working with all of you has been the experience of a lifetime. I will value your support as friends, customers, vendors, and media contacts forever. The economic situation has put the company in the position of not being able to find working capital needed to continue operations and get a chapter 11 reorganization plan through the court. In addition to this, is that all of our equipment has been breaking down causing production delays and further hurting cash flow. Reluctantly now we must convert to chapter 7 liquidation after 26 years of business. The financial collapse has closed, or has caused severe restructuring of many companies in our industry. Many individuals have lost everything. We have even lost our home. This is the most humbling experience of my life, and I have no future plans at this point. Thank You for Your Many Years of Support.

maybe if they could have built a carb that didn't leak out of every gasket as soon as you hooked the fuel lines up....
sad they are closing after so long in the business, but my dad went through three barry grant demon carbs before giving up and just putting a regular holley on the mustang, so i can't say i'm suprised...
Good riddance. Most of what they made in the past 5 or so years was subpar to the worst imported parts you could get. It sucks to have to pull machining garbage out of a BINB $1k carb for no reason.
Sucks to lose another company, but what the other guys said. The product really went downhill bad the last few years.

So what you guys are saying is: find out when the liquidation auction is happening.
No, we're saying don't bother because the designs are bad, and by BG's own admission, the equipment to make them is junk.

we have a friend that put his home, vacation home, and his daughter's home on the line for a printing business and lost it all this past year and is moving in with his son at 55 years of age. This blows.
Basic business lessons tell you to never do this......let the business go down rather than mortgage your home equity.
The whole auto aftermarket is in a bad place right now.

Keep in mind that this has been a global event, not just a US problem. Our business caters to the Caribbean, and initially we thought they would not be badly affected. Wrong. Our business is off by 50%, and now we have a problem with our clients just wanting the absolute cheapest product, which we will not sell. Maybe we are stubborn and bull-headed, but just cannot do that. The Big Turnaround we have all been waiting for really seems to be almost here, or I'm just fooling myself. Possibly Mr. Grant tried to do just that, sell the absolute cheapest product, and reaped that harvest.
